"New England, right now, is almost frightening..."

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I read the article and it was a good one. I didn't mean to compare the Pats to the Redskins in terms of throwing money at free agents. What I meant was, it's only April and the Pats still have the draft to look foward to. I really like the new additions at WR and of course, Adalius Thomas. Although the Pats may have given to much for Welker, he will prove very valuable in the return game and slot receiver role. Welker is a younger, faster version of Troy Brown.

I can totally agree with that assessment. On paper we look very good but you are right, it is just April and things can happen. I was joking with a fellow Pats fan at work the other day and asked him, "When did George Steinbrenner buy the Patriots?". (I realize there is no salary cap in baseball but you catch my gist.) The Pats did throw alot of money around in the offseason but I kind of look at it as 'well aimed money" so to speak. With Snyder it is more of a whoever catches the money gets the contract type of deal.

Hope fully the Pats will have an excellent draft as well because there are still a few holes to fill. The one good thing by getting all of these new guys is that most likely one of the 1st rounders will be a need pick and the other will be a best type available type of pick. The latest drafts always seems to have someone fall further than they really should. Every wide receiver or QB for example that gets picked before the Pats choose is letting someone they want fall closer.

IMO, we now have to bite the bullet and cut a deal with Samuel, and, as if we needed any motivation, dedicate the season to the memory of Darryl Stingley.

I'm convinced that Welker is a Troy Brown/Wayne Chrebet clone so I'm not worried about that money spent. On the other hand, I wonder if we think we are buying the Buffalo era Sammy Morris as opposed to the Miami era version. I think that he has real bust potential. Welker is going to be a tremendous fan favorite.

I completely agree re: Morris. He's nothing more than a vet minimum JAG. Justin Griffith is younger, faster, cheaper, and cleaner.

Chris Collinsworthless as we like to call him on IndyStar is one of, if not the biggest Pat homer . Funny he's not even from the boston area is he?

That's funny because I remember when Collinsworth used to pick against the Pats all the time. It is only in the last 2 or 3 years that he has begun to understand how the Pats organization is run. Patriots needed an upgrade at the linebacking and receiving position. So they went out and got it done. What is wrong with with a media person respecting that? Are you just jealous because the Colts did absolutely nothing so far? You sound pretty bitter to me.

You are showing signs of being the typical Colts fan who throws a hissy fit if any other team than the Colts gets praise from the media. Go back to the Indystar and keep patting each other on the back. Or you could start another Brady vs Manning thread and post pictures of coaches with man boobs like you guys so often do.

I don't know about Collisnworth, but there sure are "homers" in the media for nearly every team. The Colts have a few homers out there too who kept saying "its the Colts year"...

Of course they'd been saying that for the last 6 years when the Pats had 3 SBs and the Colts had none too - so generally the talking heads pick a team and say those things, and eventually they hope they will be right.

Of course the Pats "homers" in the press have been right 50% of the time over the last 6 years - so I guess they're justified!

Collinsworth is one of the most knowledgeable media guys around. He's good with X's and O's and gameday analysis. He's not afraid to call players out, either. Calling him a Pats homer is merely an admission of your own homerism.

...with where they are after fixing the receiver position and getting Adalius Thomas," NBC analyst Cris Collinsworth says.

Reportedly, the Pats dominated discussions at the owners meetings regarding which teams rebuilt best since the SB. Here's the article containing the above quote.
Collinsworthless is a tool and you guys know it. "Essentially had the Colts beat until the miraculous second half comeback"!! WTF!!???? Well, we essentially beat them, until they beat us.

What about the more than miraculous 4th quarter INT for a first down?? Granted, 6 and some change on the clock, but IMO, that ball gets batted down, and NE flies home for good.
