I think that he's a hot enough commodity to get a 1st and 3rd from someone. Maybe this is a bit optimistic but I think we'll get at least a 1st rounder. If the trade offer is from someone with a high pick in a bad position, like the Skins it would take more I think because of the $$ demands of a slot like #6.

Snyder's been snubbed by the Bears in his suit for Briggs. Will he come a-courting for Samuel next? What do you think is the most we can get for him? Let's try to be somewhat realistic.

With little on the FA market and a below average draft for CB - plus many teams with lots of cap space - there should be some options.

My favorite ? New Orleans' #1 in 2008 plus whatever we can get this year. A #2 would be awesome, I'd probably take a #3 (remembering their picks this year are low).

I'd love to get a #1 from some team next year and hope to get lucky. I'd do the same kind of thing with The Jest.

Straight up I think he worth a 1st mid rounder and a 2nd next year.. In order to get any higher than you are looking at swapping the 24th or 28th pick. But what he is worth and what we would receive are totally different. I'm still in the camp that we will probably get a deal done with him by the draft btw.

Washington for example could be a place he could end up since they were willing to surrender the 6 in exchange for Briggs and the Bears 31st. How high do the Redskins value a CB like Samuel? That is the question and they could play dumb as hell by asking for our 24th.

Detroit,Dallas,Jacksonville,Cincinatti are possible. Maybe SF if they wanted to tandem up Clement with Samuel and could afford it.

It depends on what team is truly interested enough to give up a #1 this year for him - I don't think theres any way we will allow Asante to leave without getting as #1 this year or at worst next year.

To me a decent realistic deal for a guy who has one fantastic season last year in his ONLY fantastic season thus far would be to get a #1 this year or next year along with a 4th or 5th round pick this year as well,Any more may be asking a bit much.

A Billion dollars from Dan Snyder.

IMO a 1st round pick between #10 and #20 would be ideal for Samuel as then we could look to draft Leon Hall or Revis in that spot to replace him. I don't think one of those guys will drop all the way to #24. If it is a low 1st rounder that is offered is when we'd need additional or future lesser picks. I also think the Patriots won't want too high of a 1st rounder because of salary slotting.

Pretty much agree with the 10-20 slot. As for them not wanting to get too high of a first I will reserve judgment on that one. This team has thrown some monkey wrenches into what we think their perception is and how they actually run things.

They could techically draft Willis in that area and still get a Houston, McCauley, Hughes or Wilson in the later part of the round.

1.XX - Willis
1.24 - Nelson or Merriweather
1.28 - McCauley

Be still my beating heart.

Hmm you make a good point. Willis would be nice to have. But do you think it's worth the dropoff to Houston etc? I'm betting the Pats are suddenly investigating higher slotted players now if they are seriously considering moving Samuel rather than paying him.

Well, they did visit with Leon Hall when they were up talking to Woodley.

Do you think BB was already thinking ahead to a possible Samuel holdout/trade at this point already? He can't be that good can he? :D

Just when you thought the offseason was winding down... we get this!

Shefter may have been the first media guy to know but Belichick has probably had an inkling of this before tonight :)

Sure does shake things up a bit and makes for good conversation.

Can we please move off the McCauley bandwagon? The guy was benched by his coach for the final MONTH of the season. He's likely not even going to be a 2nd rounder, let alone a #28 overall.

Laron Landry Or Patrick Willis with a side of Rocky mchintosh please anything else would just be a plus. I said it in another post but if the jet's can steal Thomas Jones, Pioli can use a former 4th round pick To pick up a great outside linebacker in mchintosh get laron landry or Patrick willis trade down a little and get woodly trade back up and get a hanging josh wilson and then scoop up either Gattis or wendling. I'd love 2 picks cause it give us so much wiggle room.
But put me on record for this i want Rocky Mchintosh for the simple reason. BB doesn't draft linebackers high. He was supposedly all over this kid Enough said.

Although I'd rather have Samuel At Dre Bly money

A question I'd like to hear opinions to:

IF Samuel is traded and we end up with a mid-late 1st this year, giving us three:

If you consider Samuel at least partly a "system" player, then would not a 1st round talent (selected by Belipioi) be an improvement (and cheaper) than 4th round Samuel?

Good, young corners, like RB, routinely come right into the league and excel (with a few d'oh!s) a la Hall, Robinson, Manning, etc. if selected and coached properly.

I like Samuel. Like, not love. He is still very young. Perhaps he is becoming top-5, perhaps he had a blip-year and is simply 10-25.

I would personally deliver Asante Samuel to the Redskins myself for their first and second or third round pick! Let him go the way of obscurity (i.e. David Patten)
