Adams would be developing as an OLB. You move Vrabel inside and rotate Colvin, Adams and Thomas.

I don't think so. I think this draft is weak at the QB position and you will see more UDGA QBs than those drafted. Also, there are numerous vets out there currently. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Pats bring in a nobody for TC and then sign a vet as well.

Why take him at 28, with Woodley still on the board? I like Spencer but is he better than Woodley?, He's just as much of a project, especially since he's never been a LB in his life. He was a D-Linemen in HS, and DE all four years at Purdue. I know he dropped into coverage, but he never played OLB/ILB for any significant time. Woodley was an OLB for two years, and he's put up better numbers. He's not any faster than Woodley 4.63-4.75 40 times compared to Woodley's 4.67-4.72 40 times. I'd be fine with the pick, I'm just interested to know why you grabbed Spencer instead of Woodley. You also like him over Beason, or Harris?

35. Josh Wilson CB

I like this pick. Does he go that high, though?

I think he goes higher, probably mid-second or early third. Good pick if he's there, but I doubt it.

127. Darius Walker RB

Why take Darius Walker with Lorenzo Booker still on the board? I think Walker is overhyped. Also, Walker doesn't have the home run capability as Booker, and while he does have good receiving skills Booker is better at lining up at WR. I think if you're drafting a 3rd down back Booker is the better of the two.

145. Sabby Piscatelli SS

You think he'll last to the fifth round? I've been saying I don't want Sabby but that's mostly because everyone keeps projecting him in the third round. I'd take him in the fifth, but again does he last this long?

171. Jeff Rowe QB

Why take a QB this high? Couldn't you get one in the seventh, or FA?

208. Quentin Echols NT

He's ranked 23 out of 26 DT's, he's short (6'), and slow (5.41 - 40). He sounds like a FA to me. He's got the low center of gravity and weight to play NT, but he's probably a 7th or FA.

209. CJ Wilson FS

I almost took him myself, but he's got attitude problems, is slow, and is projected as a Late rounder/FA.

247. Ded Harrington ILB

Might be a good pick. He could be a FA pickup, though.

At best, he can spell Wilfork in a year or two. As much as I like Wright, he just can't hold the middle against the run.

I know it is hard to anticipate, but I think Jeff Samarzjida (sp) will see his name flash and get a call from a professional team. I don't know what teams would take that risk when you consider that they would have to tender him to gain his rights and they would only own those rights for a year.

Seeing the Patriots have a winning season and thinking that he could be part of that might bring him back into the football scene.

I think analyst are on meds sometimes. Some had him going in the first. Then he says baseball is his choice and those analysts think he was too slow to start with and was average at best. That was the picture they painted after some had him ranked in the first round.

I don't think he'll decide baseball isn't for him in 2 years. Someone (could) waste a pick I suppose.

And I said "Thanks for the comments". I'm sorry, I just don't have the time or inclination to debate sixth and seventh (or even first) round picks with every poster who has a difference in opinion. We've done that in so many threads over the last six weeks.

I appreciate what you've brought to the forum this offseason. Every year we see a few more really knowledgeable draftsters in here, and it strengthens the debate. Unfortunately, the reverse is also true.

A lot of work there. Good job. I don't agree with all of your pics but that is what makes it interesting. Like Sabby and Bradley although neither might last in their respective rounds.Hope so! Like Spencer but he is a project. The Pats need a ILB to start or play a bunch this year. Can't wait two to three years on Spencer, unless you have in mind to pick up a Hartwell as a stopgap. I think Harris could be inserted now with the least amount of grief. Fits the Ted Johnson role.
Why is everybody infatuated with 5' 8" Wilson? We have two tiny CB's right now (o.k. Assante is 5' 10"). Is there something about this kid no one knows about? He is rated as a great little DB who "will make a superb nickel back". Anyone remember Chris Canty we drafted near the top of the draft for a darn nickel back? Who is going to cover the 6' 3" and 6' 5" receivers? I don't get it. I don't care if this kid spits nails, he's not covering TJ, TO, Cotchery, Fitzgerald, Colson, Bolton, Plexico, Williams, Moose or CJ etc. Didn't anybody see Hobbs struggle in the red zone with some of these taller dudes? Why waste a second rounder on a tiny nickel back? I've dated bigger women. But....they were ugly.
McCauley is 6' 1" and as fast. He had a bad year for a bad defense but is still talented or even Ross from Texas. I think underneath the bad year, McCauley is still the best CB in the draft.
Darius Walker might not work for me. I think we need a pounder. Walker hits the turf very easy. Good hands though. Not really that fast either.
Still all and all, I know this took some time. Thank you for sharing it with us.

You don't like Gaines Adams? The guy is a monster and would look great lined up opposite Colvin or Thomas.

You mean a has-been and a never-was and two never-will bes? Why not? It's a sixth rounder. And I don't think any of those guys except Lundy is under contract past this year.

Ron Dayne was actually pretty good for the Texans. Lundy is very highly thought of by the Texans organization. Gado showed 2 years ago that he was able to carry the load for Green Bay when they brought him in off the practice squad.

As for Ahman Green, if he splits the carries with the others, I think you will be surprised. Again, I don't see the Texans drafting Henry.

If I'm not mistaken, you used the same phrase on a sixth rounder in my mock last year. I appreciate the consistency. From the recaps I've read, Echols was the best player at practice and on the field at the East-West Shrine game. He'll almost certainly make it to the Practice Squad, and with more teams going to the 3-4, we need NTs on the practice squad to give the offense good looks. At best, he can spell Wilfork in a year or two. As much as I like Wright, he just can't hold the middle against the run.

Really? Almost certainly make it to the practice squad? Am I supposed to be impressed by that? Come on. Echols is said to be tire easily and not be strong at the point of attack. How can you want someone who isn't strong at the point of attack?

And Wilfork has trouble holding the middle against the run at times also. But no more so than Wright does

I leave you with this question. What is it about Echols that makes you believe he can take the spot from LeKevin Smith?
