To put it simply, this kid looks like a total package and one that should be available when the Patriots are on the clock April 29. The fit’s there, and Woodley wouldn’t mind being here.
“There’s tradition, they got leaders there and they’re all willing to work,” said Woodley, a Michigan teammate of Patriots linebacker Pierre Woods. “It’s like Michigan, that name’s been built and you want to keep it going.”

LaMarr is a friend of mine. I helped generate a pretty big buzz (along with his on-field domination) for LaMarr this season with the creation of the "Guns Don't Kill People...LaMarr Woodley Kills People" t-shirts. They were an absolute hit in Ann Arbor- we sold in the thousands with no advertising, no website, just word of mouth and people emailing my blog hits (the shirts made the LA Times, Sporting News, etc.)

LaMarr also is a genuine, hard-working, team-first person, and exactly the type of player that would fit the Pats system. Since NE is my team, LaMarr going to NE would be ideal for me. I want to do some more shirts and apparel with LaMarr when he's in the pros, and we can "officially" sell the stuff. Him being in New England would incentivize me.

I wouldn't want the Pats to draft Wolverines just to make me happy- I want to win more than anything. I just think that LaMarr is going to be a force as a pro, and I've watched 4 years worth of destruction on the field.

LaMarr would be best suited right now in a Willie McGinest role, but he has the athleticism to play inside if he drops some pounds. He initially came in to UM as the #1 LB in the nation, and really was a DE (RLB) his entire career. I see no reason he can't be versatile enough to play inside eventually.

We had him put on weight to rush the passer mainly in college. His coverage ability isn't that bad, especially for a big guy. He's got big hands, and is pretty agile. If he drops some pounds, I don't think short zone coverage will be an issue.

Also, I know it isn't coverage, but my favorite play of the season. After the game, we went down into the tunnel and joked with LaMarr. This was his "Reggie Bush" TD. LOOK AT THE MOVES ON THE BIG FELLA!!!!

You say you have watched him play for four years and seem pretty confident Woodley will be a star in the pros. You obviously know more about him then any of us do on this board, so I will take your word for it. It would be impossible for me to disagree with you because I have only seen him play a couple of times yet announcers always say great things about Woodley. So I have a couple of questions for you.

1). Do you think he will be a 1st round pick?

2.) Would you want the Pats to take him in the 1st round?

I think Woodley will be gone somewhere in the second round, so it will be pretty difficult for the Pats to grab him unless they trade some picks to move into the second round. However, stranger things have happened watching players projected high, ending up in middle rounds. If the Pats were to grab Woodley with the third round pick, that would be a great move. One last thing, David Harris looks like he will be a pretty good player as well. When I watched Michigan play, Harris was all over the field tackling fools.

1. LaMarr may or may not be a 1st round pick, he was banged up a bit, and his stock dropped. He was projected mid-season as a mid-late first round pick, and I was afraid he would be gone by the Pats pick.

2. Yes. I would absolutely LOVE for the Pats to pick LaMarr. Aside from the fact that he played at UM and is a friend, he's an absolute monster of a player, and should translate into a very good pro.

David Harris would be a good pick, but LaMarr's upside is better.

I have no problem with Woodley except that I'm quite happy with Vrabel, Colvin and Thomas at OLB with Woods as a developmental guy. Sure it's not a "young" group but it's not terribly old either. I'm much more interested in a really good, young ILB - or two - if we're looking at LB.

ILB is definitely more of a need than OLB, but I would not be opposed to drafting Woodley if is truly an impact player.
