Best players in his NFL position survey

To even try and compare Manning and Brady is futile. These guys play in completely different worlds. Manning has had the same Pro Bowl guys for 5 years who make unreal TD catches and can pull in a fumble mid-air. Brady's top receiver last year couldn't haul in a wide-open ball to save his life.

If anybody assumes Manning is over the 'big game' problem, what happens when he loses ANOTHER big game and Brady takes another Lombardi home? Or is Manning going to go undefeated in the playoffs from now on?

Manning may have won the big game. But if anything, I think these playoffs showed that he still does not play well in big games. Granted the 2nd half of the Pats game was impressive, and anyone who saw the SuperBowl knows that the Bears called a horrible defensive game. Overall, Mannings playoff performance was far below his standards. Taking that in to consideration, plus the talent surrounding them, plus the dome factor is why I think Brady is better. Call me a homer, I just honestly believe that Manning could not do as well with Brown, Pattern, Caldwell, Gaffney and A. Smith breaking out the huddle with him.

I tried explaining this to my friend who was a Colts fan, so my point is I agree.

It seems if a team can create any sort of pressure or run anything somewhat confusing as far as a defensive scheme, it can rattle Manning. I don't know if it's the pressue, the elevated talent of the playoffs or whatever, but Manning isn't the same player when it really matters. (And like you said besides the 2nd half of that AFC Championship game.)

QB: Tom Brady
RB: LaDainian Tomlinson
FB: Lorenzo Neal
WR: Andre Johnson
OT: Jonathan Ogden
TE: Antonio Gates
DL: John Henderson
LB: AD :)
CB: Champ Bailey
S: Kerry Rhodes/Adrian Wilson

IMO the Brady-Manning debate became neutralized once the Colts won the SB. You can't make an argument for/against one QB without doing the same to the other.

IMO the Manning argument has been weakened since the Colts won the SB. It was always assumed that he was simply on a perpetually inferior team to Brady's Pats....well that didn't turn out to be the case did it? Now Manning supporters will have to try and explain why he only has 1 ring instead of 4 in a row....

No love at all for Jeff Saturday and the job he does with that line and all the play calling/audibles?

Most of yours are solid, except I'd take several WRs over this older version of Marvin Harrison. I'll go with Chad Johnson as the best.

I think that Chad is still way too inconsistant to take over the top spot in the league. Five of his seven TDs came in 2 back to back games, that leaves 2 TDs in 14 games. Hard to say that is the best in the league. I'm not saying that Marvin has to be the best, I'm just saying Chad is not there yet.

Lastly, I give the nod to Manning over Brady.

I tried explaining this to my friend who was a Colts fan, so my point is I agree [SIC agreeing about how Brady is better than Manning].

Seriously I can't make this stuff up. Here I have Exhibit A and B of the classic troll buster flip flop. It is ironic that his team is just as inconsistent in their play as aqua4ever04 is in his claims and post. Game. Set. Match.

To compare Brady and Manning, you must remember to compare what happens from the time the huddle breaks to the time the ball is released. What happens after the ball is released, is out of his hands, so to speak. (As long as it isn't directed straight towards the defenders.)

In other words, if you just look at numbers, Peyton is the guy. Although, with the exception of 1 year, Peyton's #'s aren't that much better.

What they do with the ball in their hands is the only way to compare them as players.

Playing Quarterback is about FAR more than that.

I honestly get sick of this game's obbsession with statistics sometimes.

Maybe it's because I grew up around sports that aren't as stat-saturated but being a great leader in sport (and a great QB SHOULD be a great leader) is about a million little things most of which will never show up on a stat sheet.

Strictly on who's best "right now" I gotta give it to Manning. Do I think that'll last? No, I think Brady will show us what he's made of this season. He is a great QB.

We can only guess at the QB play out of context. The results show Manning is performing better right now. Brady hasn't been able to produce like he has in the past. Football is a team sport and it's tough to measure everything. I have seen some unrealistic QB from Manning last season. I have seen some uncharacteristic play from Brady.

QUARTERBACK - Brady

RUNNING BACK -LaDainian Tomlison

OFFENSIVE LINEMAN - Walter Jones

TIGHT END - Anthony Gonzalez

WIDE RECEIVER - Torry Holt

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER - Devin Hester

DEFENSIVE LINEMAN - Tommie Harris

LINEBACKER - Brian Urlacher

CORNERBACK - Champ Bailey

SAFETY - Ed Reed

Manning's success can be attributed to one thing that only he is privileged to have as an NFL QB: consistent personnel. He has had the same HC, OC and top 2 receivers for 5 years. No other QB has this luxury. Brady has only had the same HC, 2 OC's of vastly different experience levels and an ever-changing cast of receivers year-to-year. As I said, they play in different worlds and are impossible to compare.

It's kind of funny how you only jump to conclusions and try to create things. Why must you do this? Because I never said Brady was the better QB. All I said was that Manning struggles in the playoffs. How pathetic are you that you were trying this hard to point out a fault rather than contribute to the thread.

Oh do you mean contribute to the thread like this first quote?

Yes, by simply showing how dumb some people can be to actully believe that Richard Seymour is the best DL in the league.

Another outrageous claim from Patspride. Dude, just stop quoteing me, you look so stupid every time you do it. Find where I called Culpepper better than Brady, please do so.

Yes I picked the Fins to win the divison, big ******* deal dude, I'm a Dolphins fan. That's not that outrageous.

You can't feed crow when you're wrong. You admit you were wrong and that's exactly what I did.

Anytime I ever enter a thread with contribution, you always steal the thread and make it about yourself. Get over yourself, you're such a loser.

This will be the last time I ever read anything you write or ever respond to you. You are way too big of a tool and know absolutely nothing about football. You are the biggest waste of time there is on this earth. Take care and I hope you find a life.

yes he did say it .ask double G AND ZIPPO and others .

Dude I remember the thread. Where I compared Culpepper to Brady and broke down statistically why Culpepper was declining to nothing more than a mediocre QB. Of course Dolphin trolls jumped right in and took the bait, saying how great Culpepper was and how much better than Brady he was going to be with the Phins. I think they are still wiping the pie from their face, they just refuse to admit to being wrong about Culpepper. :) Optimism blooms eternal in a land of losers. Hey Aqua, you wanna bet that Culpepper wins the MVP this season? What do you think his chances are of throwing for over 4,000 yards?
