A dear friend passed yesterday morning in Hospice, initially hospitalized for a ruptured aorta couple of weeks ago. Great difficulty recovering, clots in his legs, respiratory issues and a host of other medical issues. On Monday they moved him to a Hospice facility and yesterday he passed, peacefully.

I did not share longevity with him, but what we did share were lots of commonalities in our personal lives and every conversation we had was sincere and heartfelt. He was a lot of things, but his main passions were music and restoring his VW bus.

He was one of the people we encounter who we bond instantly with, and he will always be in my heart.. RIP Bish, you were a very good man.

Sorry to hear you lost a dear friend ...

A real friend is an extension of our soul ...

May he rest in peace ...

I am sorry for the loss of your friend, Darryl. I am glad that he went peacefully. Ruptured aorta surgery is one of the hardest to recover from. My sister's father-in-law died a few years back from the same thing and his passing sounds much the same - they even amputated one of his legs shortly before he died.

Seems to be the week for deaths.....My old fire chief (61 years old) died of a heart attack immediately following a fire call this past February....today I found out that his wife (56) committed suicide yesterday.

Peace to all of them...and to their families.

Coincidentally my mother died at home 30+ years ago of a ruptured aorta, she was pending surgery, but refused to stop smoking.. so there are some emotions connected to this.

Bish and I had many commonalities, and he always brought a smile.. some folks you connect with easily. Today is his memorial service, and I play a role, it will be nice to remember him.

I was a greeter at the most heartfelt memorial that I have ever been to, so much I did not know about him, those who spoke filled in a lot of blanks... his stepsons all gave eulogies. It lasted for 75 minutes, and my mind never drifted...

My condolences on the loss of Bish. Sounds like a great guy.

And Mrs.PatsFanInVa, that is terrible. I'm sorry for the chief but especially his wife and those they left behind. How sad.

I know, Patjew....there is one son - in his early twenties. He had just joined the fire department shortly before his dad died. I have not seen him since he was a pre-teen but I cannot even think of his grief without welling up myself.

Oh man, poor guy. He'll be in my thoughts.
