While I haven't given all the players a lot of thought, I have to give the recent QB play of Manning ahead of Tom Brady. The knock on Manning was he couldn't play big in a big game and he couldn't beat a BB defense. Those weaknesses are history. Manning seems to have overcome his periodic horrible games whereas Tom Brady is having them more frequently. Two years ago it would have been Brady without hesitation. Right now, I have to give it to Manning.

He had statistically the worst postseason of any Superbowl-winning QB in history, and absolutely everything had to break right for him to do even that. I'm not even talking about just the horrid calls or the pneumonia. I'm talking about Ray Lewis tipping away two sure interceptions, the worst playoff gameplan I've ever seen (KC), Rex Grossman somehow "leading" a team to the Superbowl where he proceeded to crap the bed, as we all knew he would...everything broke his way. It was amazing to see.

Last Year Manning had as usual Harrison and Wayne all year - 2 of the best WR tandem in the NFL

Brady has Gaffney a castoff and unwanted 3rd type WR Reche Caldwell to start and got to the same championship conference game as Indy and you say Manning is Better?

Pretty sure Manning won that Conference Championship game, but I may be mistaken.

I think Manning's better than Brady at this point, too.

The only constant in Brady's career has been Troy Brown. Everone else has gone the way of the dinosaur.

Peyton has had his supporting cast almost his entire career, and plays half the season in a dome.

Each person brings something different to the table.
I don't think one is better than the other. More like 1a and 1b.

RUNNING BACK - L.T. I can see Reggie Bush giving him competition in the years to come though.

To even try and compare Manning and Brady is futile. These guys play in completely different worlds. Manning has had the same Pro Bowl guys for 5 years who make unreal TD catches and can pull in a fumble mid-air. Brady's top receiver last year couldn't haul in a wide-open ball to save his life.

If anybody assumes Manning is over the 'big game' problem, what happens when he loses ANOTHER big game and Brady takes another Lombardi home? Or is Manning going to go undefeated in the playoffs from now on?

To compare Brady and Manning, you must remember to compare what happens from the time the huddle breaks to the time the ball is released. What happens after the ball is released, is out of his hands, so to speak. (As long as it isn't directed straight towards the defenders.)

In other words, if you just look at numbers, Peyton is the guy. Although, with the exception of 1 year, Peyton's #'s aren't that much better.

What they do with the ball in their hands is the only way to compare them as players.

I can't help but to laugh. I just read your post and I can't stop laughing right now. You have me cracking up. Its true though, everything did break his way. The KC game plan might be the worst game plan of all-time. They didnt even have a planB. Herm sucks. Just think about how bad the NFC is that a crappy QB like Grossman actually took his team to the superbowl to represent the NFC. What a joke. I'm still in little dis-belief about last seasons play offs.

Manning may be the "better" QB, but I'd rather have an "inferior" QB with more Super Bowl rings.






That being said, I think that Tom Brady is a better QB. He doesn't have the same weapons as Peyton Manning yet finds ways to make his offense function at a high level. . . .


EDIT: IMO, Brian Urlacher is not the best LB in the game. We'll see how good he really is when he's not lined up next to Lance Briggs. Urlacher is terrrible taking on blockers, he plays with terrible leverage, and he's still looking for Tom Brady! I'd give Vilma a nod as one of the games best LB's.

I want to make the Brady/Manning comparison at the end of next season, Manning has had the same receiving corps for about 5 years now, the same offensive coordinator and they have been relatively injury free. Brady will go to mini camp with the same guys, and depth that should allow an early learning curve and much more consistency in our receiving corps. But bottom lines is that Brady, despite the shortcomings, has 3 rings and Manning has 1.

Most of yours are solid, except I'd take several WRs over this older version of Marvin Harrison. I'll go with Chad Johnson as the best.

Feel free to hate the Dolphins all you want, but you have to put Jason Taylor on that list.

I also have noticed that no one thinks much of Zach Thomas. But answer me this, who was the all NFL team MLB? And who led the league in tackles (for the 6th time in his 10 year career.) I hate the lack of respect this guy gets. Urlacher and Lewis have nothing on Thomas.

Lastly, I give the nod to Manning over Brady.
