Troy Brown wants to end career with Pats

Re: Brown wants to come back for another year

It just said he would like to stay here, not that he will.

I'd love to see Troy finish it out as a Patriot too. If he will take vet min I think he'd get a chance to compete for a spot. His health is about the only caveat I can think of.

I would love to see Troy end his career here, but I have a bad feeling about this. If he wants to play next year, I am not sure he comes back to the pats

My Show No Mercy attitude ends with Troy Brown. If he wants to play, and is willing to play for a reasonable deal, I will not accept the Pats not signing him.

That is the one player that I would protest for.

I have said it on another board... I would like to get an online "Bring Troy Back" petition started, just to see how many sigs we can get.

It would let him know that we fans do appreciate him. It would also give him the "individual recognition" that he deserves, for putting the "Team first", for all of these years.

Maybe I'll look for some domain names tonight...

ThankYouTroy.com??

Anyone wanna get involved and help out organizing/designing the web-page??

PM me... I'm dead serious. :singing:

Not so fast....first, IF New England offered him a contract at Vet. Min. $830,000 or so, (that way we can take advantage of the cap break for veterans) and IF Troy is holding out for more cash - THEN, does that change things???

I doubt he is holding out for cash.

I say offer him a vet min contract, then PUP him. He's had off-season surgery and surely qualifies.

It isn't like he needs training camp. He's been to O, D, and ST meetings for years. Give him a contract, the summer off, and surely by week 9 we will have enough WRs and/or DBs hurt to activate him.

If Troy is willing to play for the Vet Min. and they dont bring him back. Thats what I mean.

Anyway. I bought the domain name Thankyoutroy.com.

Im going to set up a page for people just to stop in and write a little personal "Thank you", to Troy and sign their name.

Maybe if we get enough sigs, it will make it's way to him. I think it would be a nice little tribute.

Sounds like a cool idea.

I just bought the domain name... it'll take me a day or so to set it up. Hopefully it is fairly simple. I dont really know much about web design... but im sure I can figure it out.

If anyone wants to volunteer to help me set it up (and knows what they are doing)... I wouldnt say no. lol- ;)

if he'd rather end his career as a patriot, in other words, play one more year and retire...then he woudltn care about the money....

he's made his money in his prime...generally he knows his role so he just wants to end it with the pats

I agree. Troy doesnt strike me as the greedy type. I think he values the rarity of begining and ending a career in one place (in this day and age).

I based my remarks on a comment made by Mike Reiss in his latest mailbag of 3/21/07

": My read on the Troy Brown situation is that he would like to play for the Patriots in 2007, and that if both sides were willing to accept a veteran minimum benefit type of contract, it's a slam dunk and he'd be on the final roster. But my hunch tells me that Brown's representatives believe he is worth more than a veteran minimum contract, so there might be some negotiation involved"

Is only his hunch, but, I cannot see NE paying more than Vet Min due to the cap situation. Also, with the health questions....who knows.

As far as I am concerned - it would be BLASPHEMY to see Troy in Jet green or Colt blue......but, I think we are in a real tough spot here.

This is a very rare situation where I think even BB may just find a spot for him on his roster for one more year, flying in the face of what may be logical. Of course, knowing Troy, it would also most likely end up being a really smart move too.

I really hope this does not drag out, but it looks like it will.

This situation is the ONLY negative of this off season as of today.

I think if Troy thinks there's an excellent chance he makes the roster, he'll be back here.

But as I've said before, the guy hasn't made THAT much money in his life. Each year making $800K+ is still important to him.

Nice idea. I'll sign.

Since my first fantasy football team name was "ILoveTroyBrown", I might be bias here, but I think they'll find a spot for Troy. He still has value as a backup in many different roles.

I am very sure Mr. Patriot will be here for his retirement...I bet there is more of a relationship than player/coach here...I would love to see Troy as WR coach....Ofcourse as a Pats coach:eek:

i hope he does end as a patriot
