Undated draft order all teams

Good work thanks. Hmmm the Pats have FOUR 6th round picks? There's no way we're keeping all of those. Do I sense some trades coming?

You'll notice that there is a easy to read team by team chart below the "draft order".

What time does the draft start?

Historically speaking, how long would you expect it to take to get to the #24 pick? I know the teams get 15 minutes each and I'm guessing that in the first round, most teams take the entire alloted time which would mean that's it would take almost 6 hours - and that can't be right.

Starts at 9am for us West Coasters.

First round takes about 5 1/2 hours. Patriots should be picking around 1pm (PST) or so although there's always trades that can happen.

We could be picking at 11 as the niners could be our new best friends.

Not to be facetious here, but why would the Pats want to do this? I see an advantage in getting a six-year pick (although I think the Pats would much rather have sebman's Packers trade and go at 16), but with your trade, the Pats wait 65 picks between their first and second selections, versus the current 63 picks between their second and third.

That is why you are lucky to have me. Reasons are:

1. Willis is a special player at a position that is of great need for the Patriots. If we can fill that need for many years to come, then it's certainly worth it. I really think he's better than Hawk or the other ILB's from last years class or the year before.

2. With this draft, there will be solid players at positions of lesser need from the 3rd round on. Players like DeOssie, Stone, Graham, Waters, even a RB like the kid from Fresno.

3. The Patriots don't need to take 10 players- 7 will be able to fill the needs that we have as long as we fill the primary need with a special player.

If the Pats had a chance at trading #28 for a second rounder this year and a 1st next year, would you do it?

#24 - Revis
acquired 2nd - Harris or Leonard
#91 - Gattis

And still have a pair of 1st rounders for what is expected to be a stronger draft in 2008.

I'd do #24 for that. And I might do it for a 3rd rounder this year depending on who it's with and the liklihood of them doing well. If they're 50-50 to make the playoffs next year I'd take a 3 this year and hope for a top half pick next year.

That's almost exactly what I have in my latest mock (not yet posted). Number 28 traded to Tampa Bay for Number 64 and second and fourth round picks next year. At 64 I would hope to get Harris or Wilson. I think it's a great move for New England.
