I was watching TV and a cheesy football movie I saw years ago (can't be more than 10-12 years) popped in my head but I can't remember what it was called or who was in it.

The details are kinda foggy but I think it was a small school that used to have a good football program and either a former player or former coach comes back to coach the team that has fallen on bad times. The school might even be closing down, I'm not sure.

I just remember that he throws some of the players off the team and they end up having very few backups but end up getting better and having a good season. In the end they go up against a team that hadn't been outscored in a single half all season.

They get blown out in the first half and they know they're going to lose so they get fired up to beat the team for one half, to outscore them. They end up putting on old jerseys at halftime from one of the school's teams years ago and end up winning the half.

I know the details are pretty crappy but it's all I can remember and it's bugging me really bad. (remembering movies or actors is one of my anal issues) If you remember the show or even one actor that was in it, I could look up their filmography and figure it out. Thanks.

I hope you aren't describing The Replacements with Keanu Reeves?? :p

I haven't seen it, but sounds like what that plot might be.

the replacements was aobut a professional franchise, not a small school

If it's the movie I'm thinking of, it was called "Necessary Roughness" with Scott Bakula as the QB, a former supermodel as the kicker, and Rob Schnieder (sp?) as the play by play guy, he of Deuce Bigelow fame.....................

I'm not sure if that's the movie he's looking for,but I do remember "necessary roughness" only for the supermodel.
Kathy Ireland-
Man she was hot back in the day,She spoke like Mike Tyson until she had voice training but what a face:D

I'm fairly certain that it was a TV movie. I don't think the trainwreck I'm thinking of was good enough for the movie theater.

Neither was "Necessary Roughness", but it made it anyway to theaters nationwide......................

This one?

Plot Outline:When a plane crash claims the lives of members of the Marshall University football team and some of its fans, the team's new coach (McConaughey) and his surviving players try to keep the football program alive.
