It's easy, and only takes a few moments.I saw this article on Sunday and was absolutely stunned this is so far off and I like Kirwin but he is way off on this one IMO. This is the year to add to very good players to your defense and I am convinced this is where they are going. I would love to see Aaron Ross or Michael Griffin from Texas and Beason from Miami at LB. I am not a Poz fan so I hope they don't go in that direction. Beason is a tackling machine with speed. Ross a pretty good cover guy with speed and is also a pretty good PR/KR so hopefully this is the direction they are heading. But to be honest I haven't picked one of their #1s since BB has been here. What does Kirwan know that I don't? Didn't the Pats just lock up their center and unless every corner, safety and Pat Willis is gone, why would they take Spencer?
The more I see of these mocks, the more I just want nothing to do with the first round. Then again, NO better give up a 3rd rounder or 4th rounder.
IMO have said all along might use a 1st on an OL, never can have enough quality depth here...
I will say this, Kirwan chose two guys who fit the Patriots system, which is much more consideration than most mockers give. This might be the only mock I've seen that I could say that both 1st round picks are "Patriots-type players".
Sure you can. Would you be okay with us drafting 10 OL in the draft? Of course not.IMO have said all along might use a 1st on an OL, never can have enough quality depth here...
That's why Kirwan's mock doesn't make sense to me. Especially the center. We just extended Koppen and Hochstein, and have Mruc under contract (and even if he is cut he has been part of our shadow roster for years). Just do not see BB drafting an OC in first round.
Kalil could make the switch to guard easily, and at worst he'd be a younger Hochstein. At best, he'd be a starting guard who could play center in case of injury.
But the problem is we already have Hochstein and Koppen.
We don't need another.
If he had us getting Staley at 28 I wouldn't have a problem with it.
Because he would be a potential upgrade at LT or at worst a talented understudy who might start in the near future.
Right. I'm wasn't suggesting that we draft him, only that he is a "Patriots Player". Fits the physical and mental makeup of our linemen.
