Edelman has question marks too - I understand we all have short memories, but he's played one full season his entire career.
He played 15 games in 2010 and 13 games in 2011, he really only missed significant time in 2012, that was his only time on injured reserve. In his career, he has played in 64 of a possible 80 games, which is 80% of them. His injury history is greatly exaggerated.

I think injury histories in general are greatly exaggerated if they are different injuries, but he also only caught 11 passes in total in those 28 games in 2010 and 2011. So let me go back and say last season was the first where Edelman saw significant playing time as a wide receiver where he did not miss significant time due to injury.

I think Edelman has as many questions marks as, say, Lafell, who has been consistently productive (if unspectacular) and healthy throughout his career and really only has the question mark of learning the offense.

..... I cannot remember many outside (non-slot) WRs who entered the NFL as UDFA and became stars. If I am overlooking some let me know, I did not do any research.

Troy Brown. Drafted in a round that no longer exists. Until about 2002, he was more of an outside WR.

I agree with you that he has question marks; I think every NFL player has some type of question mark; the nature of the game makes it that way.

I look at the slot WR similar to the RB it is positon that takes a beating, for that reason given we have both of them I would like to see them rotate Edelman and Amendola the same way teams rotate their RBs. Keep them fresher, and reduce the amount of abuse on their bodies.

Another good call, Brown was an excellent player, would you consider him an outside receiver though or more of a slot WR? I think he was sort of a mix so I could go either way.

I later added onto my post that until circa 2002, he was more of an outside WR. Actually, size and speed-wise, Boyce reminds me more of Troy. Now if he can only show the same in production, etc.

Amendola was the first player on the practice field yesterday, and the second play out there today. He is feeling the pressure; he knows that he is not a lock for this roster.

I would be surprised if they did not give LaFell this season to prove himself. He has been a productive receiver throughout his NFL career, and he is a very good run blocker.

It surprises me how many people feel Belichick would be so quick to give up on Josh Boyce. He was the #102 pick in the NFL draft in 2013, that is not even a half a round difference between him and where Bequette was drafted in 2012, Boyce was not anything special as a rookie but he did more than Bequette and still Bequette is entering his third camp with us. Personally, I am 95% certain Boyce will be on the 53-man roster.

Great to see you turning Amendola's work ethic into a liability. Keep up the good work.

I don't understand why people thought KT was on the bubble to start camp.. He was the patriots best reciever last year IMO

Liability, how is him being on the field before anyone else a liability?

He wouldn't do it to improve his and the team's chances, he's only doing it because he's scared.

I should have said a negative.

That's a joke, right?

I mean Edelman had over 100 catches last year.

Well I said Amendola is out there first or second because he knows he is not a lock for this team. That equates to trying to improve his chances.

You always make everything into a dramatic Lifetime movie, it is unnecessary.

I think he meant he was the Patriots best WR who was a game day inactive without an injury last season...o_O

I guess Brady is worried about his spot too then, by your logic...

I'm dramatic? I just reflect what you're saying.

Amendola is not a roster lock; he is putting in the work to earn a spot. What is the issue with that? Should I say Amendola is a lock and is just amazing for going out to practice early? Will you stop with swan song if I say that?

Brady is a roster lock. It is not even close to comparable...

The hypersensitive Tebow Fan like reaction you and some others have to any statement about Amendola is absurd. Are you going to put up billboards if Edelman starts at slot over him?
