So what? He's young and he's rich. Doing cocaine while partying in the off season isn't going to ruin his career. Lawrence Taylor used to do it all the time. You think there's not any patriots players blowing lines when they party? They're young, they're rich, they all just came from being the most known kids at their colleges.
A couple of lines of blow isn't going to hurt your athletic performance. If it turns into an addiction, that's different... But that's not as common as many of you believe.

I just hope I get the chance to be proven wrong with on-field play and Manziel drops his moron act.

I don't think it's an act.

The cocaine isn't really the problem, the lack of judgement shown in being a high-profile person doing it in a Vegas bathroom is.

True story.

2 weekends ago I was in Houston TX having dinner with my brother in law.

I was wearing a Pats t shirt and walked by a guy having dinner by himself on the way to our table. About halfway into dinner this guy comes over and asks me if I am a diehard Pats fan. Turns out he is a coach at Texas AM. Knew Ty Warren (coached him) and Bethel Johnson. Had nothing but praise and respect how Belichick does business.

The conversation rolled around to Manziel. The coach said that JM came from money and has had his axx kissed all his life. His family is a huge problem. JM rarely listened to anyone while at AM and in his opinion the worst thing that could have happened is JM going to a team where he will start right away.

Said JM is a trainwreck waiting to happen and will get crushed in the NFL.

I would rather journalists get real evidence before they try to discredit someone. It may be true, but what happened to journalist integrity

Now, now people we should not just assume Manziel is a coke head. He could have been rolling the bill to snort heroin or crushed pills...o_O

gotta love the kid's swagger......not a goody two-shoes......like some QBs:D

Tell that to Len Bias. I'd say it pretty much ruined his career.

EDIT: ok, PatsWickedPissah beat me
to the punch. Didn't see his remark prior to posting mine. Well done, sir.

Yeah, there was a longform article in ESPN Magazine a year ago on this: http://espn.go.com/espn/otl/story/_...rity-derail-texas-aggies-season-espn-magazine

The author never comes out and says it, probably because the article was part of the big ESPN narrative-maker and it was there to hype Manziel rather than smear him, but this:

"They're concerned. Paul thinks Johnny drinks to deal with the stress. After his arrest, Johnny's parents and Sumlin mandated he visit an alcohol counselor; Johnny saw him six or seven weeks during the season."

At the time of the writing, Manziel was 20 years old, drank to deal with the massive amount of stress he was under, has been arrested for alcohol related offenses, and saw an alcohol counselor on a regular basis. Johnny Manziel's an alcoholic, and that should have been extraordinarily concerning for NFL teams.

I dont believe that alchoholism is a disease in that its specifically alchohol that triggers a person's addiction.

In my opinion its the effects of alchohol (escapism, mood alteration) that causes addiction in a vulnerable person.

Either way, it can't be good for someone with alchohol issues/problems to start messing with cocaine. That se

Cocaine incidently is (or was when I was working) the drug of choice for commercial divers.. it only showing up on drug tests for up to 24 hours. If this still holds true in the NFL I'd imagine it's popular with some players just for that reason.

What worries me, from a Patriots standpoint, is the fact that Gronk was seen hanging out with him and Diplo not too long ago. I said it then, and I'll say it again now: hopefully Gronk has better decision making skills.

Fortunately, GRONK appears to have two caring parents who would step in if they see him doing something unwise. [His father, for example, has given him pretty good financial advice since he entered the league.] I also get the impression that despite being a meathead, GRONK is neither a jackass nor stupid.

Gotta love PFT. "We won’t speculate on what Manziel planned to do with the money." No, but you will mention "cocaine" three times in the story.

C'mon. Everybody knows that the first step in making an origame telephone is to roll a $20 bill to make the handset. Manziel was just trying to impress the guys at the urinals while he waited his turn.

I have rolled up bills to make a tiny trumpet or kazoo or drinking straw.

Well, tell you what, if I were a team than had just invested a first round pick in this moron, I wouldn't love it.

All this says to me is that Hoyer has a pretty good shot at remaining the starter for awhile.

I think not enough credit is being given to Manziel making better decisions.. well marginally better but "better" none the less.

He could have been using a 100 bill.
