And that's Strike 7: Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon arrested again

Wait...wasn't this only first arrest?

Yes. He failed a drug test leading to last seasons suspension. Then he fails one this offseason which opened the door for an 8game-full season suspension. Then the DWI today.

I mean it's not like this guy is a pacman Jones or guy like that being arrested for assault, domestic violence, etc....

He failed two tests for a drug that's legalized recreationally in two states.

Just imagine that.

Ray Rice clocked his wife and will see 4-6 games. Gordon failed two weed tests and was gonna see 8-full and now with the arrest maybe two seasons.

Amazing. The kid is stupid for not laying off the dope but it's sad to see the wife beaters still in the NfL while the potheads are banned

That's the way our society is. And it's starting to change...i hope. Beat your wife is ok...but don't smoke the weed.

BUT the NFL has said that it will be looking to change it's MJ laws so hopefully we will see some change. I can see 1 suspension...but multiple? You know the NFL is going to test..so lay off of it until they make that rule change.

Utter moron. Given all the talent in the world. Something I would kill for and he goes and wastes it...
Probably one of the dumbest players in NFL history. A complete moron. I want nothing to do with him.

Why would anyone want to give a 7th for a guy who is totally, completely unreliable? He could be an unrestricted free agent willing to sign for the absolute minimum and the Patriots still wouldn't take him.
You are so above and beyond yourself it's laughable. No one likes people that think their better then everyone else. This is NE. We feel like we need to rise up and conquer the status quo, challenge me and I'll kick your ass. This is NE.

This news reminds me that I never learned how long Jim Irsay's unpaid suspension was for. Anybody here remember?
I'm actually not really sure. I'll wait here for an answer with you.

and to think that i wanted them to go after him a while back...dumb me....if he could just keep his head down and his nose clean he would have gotten a life setting payday.....and be smarter about smoking weed (not getting caught)

6-8 games expected, nothing confirmed right now

I think you need to up your meds.

how do you suspend an owners pay?

That's kinda what I was wondering too. How do you even punish an owner? Restrict him from being at team facilities on gameday or during the week? All they can really do is give him a fine and maybe "suspend" him from appearing at a few games.

This is false, we considered Kenny Britt but assumed he had nothing left.

You say I'm wrong, which is fair, but as evidence to support your contention you bring up.....a guy who never played here?

I would rather take a chance on that Colt Lyerla, I think he has a better chance to stay clean than Gordon.

By the way, I would like to know how he is going in Green Bay, if he gets cut does he need to go through waivers or could we sign him for the practice squad?

well, a commish COULD ruin an owner's reputation, fine him , take his team's first round draft choice, let the nearest opposition's head coach get away with debauchery, public lewdness, public profanity, coaching preposterous sideline tripping incidents and then sit back silently as the national press savages this owner for years and years while still allowing "Ice Cream Thursdays!!!" and "Tattoos of My Players On My Wife's Body!" that humiliate the league worldwide.

You said they wouldnt sign him as a UFA for minimum, they brought in someone with much more serious run ins with the law, showing they arent afraid of Gordon smoking a little weed.

People seem to forget that this stage of the substance abuse program warrants new testing every 3 days, up to 10 tests per month. It's quite possible that this is not the 2nd or 3rd failed test for Gordon. It's also quite possible that he'll be failing more tests in the future. He's caught up in the web now, meaning that he could be totally useless to any team that considers his services.

By all accounts, Kenny Britt hasn't exactly been on the same track as he once was--although I can't remember how long he was suspended for throughout the years. It would be like comparing trying to get Josh Gordon to trying to get Kenny Britt at the height of his troubles. We'd never have attempted to do so.

If Josh Gordon cleans himself up a couple/few years down the road, I'm sure Bill Belichick would consider bringing him in for a workout as an unrestricted free agent just the same as he did Kenny Britt.

I always stuck up for him when he was just smoking weed, but you can't get arrested.

In our U.S. society "just" smoking weed has become much more accepted lately, but it doesn't change the fact that anyone of us can be immediately dismissed from their employment for doing so.

If/when that happens, none of our arguments about "just" smoking weed will fly worth a damn, and Josh Gordon's shouldn't either. If anything, he's actually getting off much easier than the majority of us would, with the ability to earn millions when he returns for 2015.

I've smoked plenty of weed in my late teens/early 20s, but there's a time when common sense must prevail and one must attempt to grow up. Apparently, that has not happened in Gordon's case, as he's had multiple warnings now. If he can't put the pot down to earn millions of dollars, that's his stupidity.
