Please guess at what pick Linebacker Desmond Bishop from Cal will be drafted and what team he goes to. If you win you get... nothing except for bragging rights for winning the Desmond Bishop game!
I am guessing that the Patriots will draft him in the 6th round. That would what like pick #220?
Post your answer below then you can also vote on the poll. Ooooh!

I don't think he'll last into the sixth. Depending on what they do in the earlier rounds I could see NE picking Bishop in the fourth round.

Holy Christ.

4th round man?

My god i'd was going to say 6th but i went with 7th since he'll probably slip a bit.

Theres no way hes a fourth round talent.

Yea, I've seen him projected as high as a third rounder some places, and as low as a final two round guy. I think Bishop is closer to the the 4th-5th round variety, than a 6th-7th round selection.

Most draft sites rate him as a 6th to 7th round pick.

I edited my initial comment. I don't think he falls that fall. Plus, he has been working on his coverage, and speed. Some of the people who project him as a 6th-7th rounder think he is simly a run stuffer, and nothing more, but that isn't true. I think given some time to develop Bishop could turn into a very good backer.

The 4th round comp. pick by the Pats. They will reach with him at this point, but they know that he will not last until their 5th round comp. pick. (I am guessing that this is where the Pats will receive 2 of their comp. picks)

3rd-4th rounder

I'm gunna go at the top of the First Round. You can take that to the bank. Yeah baby! :rocker:

I voted 6th. But after pondering the situation for a few moments I'll change to 4th-5th.

I agree thats what people think of him as a run stuffer and thats about it. But i think he's getting stuck in that same role as Freddie Roach was in last year. People are going to figure hes a one trick pony and just let him slide.

I havent really seen to much on him to say he looks like hes a 4th or even a 3rd rounder but i dont here many positives either.

Well I didn't think the Desmond Bishop game would be this popular! Well the poll will keep going until just before the draft. So soon we'll know who was right and who just has pie on their face. :)
Obviously I think Desmond Bishop has some potential if the Pats might end up drafting him. But he sounds more like a TJ 2 down type linebacker. That's not necessarily a bad thing but that will likely push him down a bit.

Oh here are some profiles on our man of the hour.

This site predicts that the Patriots will select Desmond Bishop with their 3rd rounder!

And of course this expose on Desmond Bishop would not be complete with at least one or two youtube highlights!

People, please share your thoughts and feelings on Desmond Bishop. Also how would you feel about him donning a New England Patriot uniform? Strongly, faintly, or just can't get enough of Desmond Bishop?
Please feel to post more about Desmond Bishop and don't forget to vote!

Here's one site that has him a 3rd rounder

Here is a Cal Football video (Desmond highlights, and interview start at the 2:40 mark)

Also, after watching that Cal video (which has some Lynch highlights) I want you to think about the rumor Lynch might fall just like Maroney last year. Lynch catches the ball very well, and would be sick in the backfield with Maroney. The rumor as to why he might fall is a small back problems though, so if that does cause him to fall it could be something to consider.

I think alot of draft sites project him in the 7th or lower but I think somebody will pull the trigger in the 6th. I hope it's the Pats because I'm a Cal fan and alumnus and watched this kid play all season. He is good and would fit well with our team. He was basically the leader of the defense. Smart, fast and tough... sounds like a Pats player to me :)

P.S. btw, when i watched him play, he plays alot faster than his 40 time would indicate. He seemed to be always around the ball and making plays.

I thought he was a late round 5 pick but when he showed up at his pro day weighing 233 and ran a 4.8 I dropped him down to the 6th.

Gil Brandt, of NFL.com, reports California LB Desmond Bishop measured a height of 6-1 1/2 and a weight of 233 pounds at his Pro Day March 6. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.81 seconds and 4.83 seconds. He completed the short shuttle in 4.65 seconds and the three-cone drill in 7.14 seconds. He measured a 32 1/2-inch vertical jump and a 9-foot-4 broad jump.

I'm still not sold on him being a 3rd or fourth. I'll admit he probably wont last to the 7th now that ive seen him actually play but theres something about his play and his workout times that just screams out second day pick.

Not bashing the guy but he just might have to prove it when he gets to a team.

Lynch could easily fall to the Pats if Buffalo doesnt select him and if Green Bay passes. But the patriots already have a bigger better running back than Marshawn. I think just giving Maroney the load this year will solve a lot of the teams running back problems especially when you mix in Faulk and Morris for breathers and breaks.

Besides a luxury pick at 24 would piss off tons of people including myself when you could possibly upgrade another position like S, LB, OT, DB and you use it on a RB when we already have a good one we drafted last year.

I think we take someone in the later rounds like a Booker.

Well, I want Booker anyways:D Out of the 3rd down backs in this draft Booker is my favorite, and I think he has the potential to be even more, if NE asked.
I could see him gaining 10-115lbs and being a total dual threat RB, with a lot more elusiveness, and speed than NE currently has in any of their backup RB's. Faulk still has a little elusiveness, but he's not outrunning people anymore, and about a year or two from hangin' em' up if you ask me. Bring in Booker now and let him learn behind Faulk.

RB:
Maroney
Morris
Faulk
Booker (gradually replacing Faulk over the next two seasons.)

FB:
Evans
Mills
