LA Kings win Stanley Cup

They screwed up, big time. Why do NE fans, regardless of team, feel the need to defend even the most ridiculous moves of their teams? It's alright to point out when your team screws up. It doesn't make you less of a fan.

Funny how perspectives differ.

Does anyone else feel like NE fans might be more critical of the moves their teams make than most other regions?

Just kind of feel like that's a thing we do.

There's no way in hell that trade was a win for Boston. And calling Reilly Smith a fantastic young player is crazy talk.
While I preferred they keep Seguin, I think it's a little premature to pass judgment on this trade just yet. I want to see what Louis Erickson brings if he can stay healthy for one full season and if Reilly Smith can reproduce the same numbers.

That was an incredible game, i feel bad for Lundqvist, but the Kings were the better team

Reilly Smith 1st full season 82 games 51 pts 20 goals +28

Seguin 1st full season 74 games 24 pts 12 goals -4

Brad Marchand 1st full season 77 games 41 pts 21 goals +25

Patrice Bergeron 1st full season 71 games 39 pts 16 goals +5

Milan Lucic 1st full season 77 games 27 pts 8 goals -2

Where 1st full season is defineds at least 85% (70 games played).

Reilly Smith's first full season in the NHL is as good as ANY Bruin currently on the roster and better than Seguin's first effort. I see no reason for you to trash Reilly Smith just to express hate over the trade. Do I think RS will outscore Seguin in the long run? No, but he is certainly one of the best promising young forwards to enter the B's organization judging from his early production.

You haven't heard the local radio tearing up the Heat, then.

That's not to say that no other region will be critical of their team.. but NE doesn't seem like some lone bastion of homer-ism imo.

Stick to discussing football.

I watch a lot of Stars hockey, so I am pretty familiar with all the players involved in that trade.

Rielly Smith was very good at everything but couldn't finish with the Stars. everyone knew he would eventually figure it out. He'll be a decent goal scorer and play-maker.

Erikson hasn't been the same since the lockout. Not sure why, but he is a lot slower than he once was. It's hurt him on defense and especially on offense. He looks snake-bit all the time. If he rebounds, the Bruins will be very happy with him. Fans shouldn't give up on him yet.

Peverley was an awesome throw in. Unfortunate that he had health issues. He did an amazing job filling whatever role he was asked, on all lines, wing or center. Seguin not only scores at about a point a game clip, but he also frees up Jamie Benn too. As a Stars fan, I do not regret the trade one bit.

As a Stars fan you should be happy with the trade ...so far, but like I said earlier we need to wait another full season to fully grade it' Erickson started off his 1st season with the B's by receiving a nasty concussion and Smith has been a pleasant surprise no to mention the talk around Matt Frasor's play/potential in the AHL. As far as Peverly goes, that sucks, I liked him in Boston and rooted for him in Dallas and let's see if Seguin makes the real jump to his potential this year. This is the year when he "should" be able to start growing a real playoff beard and scoring at least 30 G/40 A or he still thinks he's a big boy now and should be able to do what he wants.

After his concussion this year he wasn't the same..but in the playoffs he played great defensively. Pleased with his performance...hopefully it can carry over

He can be Jere Lehtinen like on defense with a lot more consistent offense. Both were fan favorites for a reason. Tons of hustle. Get matched up with the other teams best offense and able to create scoring chances. Players like that are hard to get a hold of. The Stars didn't give up nothing to get Seguin.

The Stars had a huge void at 1C. Seguin was everything they could have hoped for.

Matt Frasor's problems are more defensive than anything. If he can become at least slightly below average is his own zone.. he could be a decent sniper.

That line was the best line for the Bs in the post season. They would bring it every single shift...can't say the same about the Krejci line ect

During the 2013 playoffs, Seguin's behavior and performance (1 goal, 7 assists in 22 games) constituted a very public statement that he put a higher priority on staying out all night carousing than he did on helping his team win the Stanley Cup...

Phil Esposito would have a hard time getting more than 1/7 in 22 with the succubus of Peverly (never
met a net he couldn't miss) & Chris Kelly (no shooting skill whatsoever). Seguin's talent was wasted on that line during the 2013 POs.

And if that Bs exec wasn't worried about Marchand after 2011, he better be plenty worried about him
after 2014. His "performance"(snicker) in the POs was inexcusably, shamefully putrid.

THAT was what was most disappointing to me, personally. That line flat out was invisible, at least for the MON series anyway. I was actually half-expecting some type of switch to be honest, but then again, they did win 3 out of 4 prior to the game six loss, so I can understand why it was kept intact.

Smith started off on fire, and then the wheels came off. Anyone telling you something else is lying to you. He had something like 2 goals in his last 30 games.

So he's the Bruins equivalent to Kenbrell Thompkins then? I mean, aside from the fact that BOS actually had other scoring options when he was on fire...I kid, I kid.

(no I don't)

It takes a disaster to happen in order for julien to make a change. One thing i am not a fan of
