From PFT:

"Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that a trade between the Dolphins and the Chiefs for quarterback Trent Green is getting closer to becoming a reality.

Per Schefter, the Dolphins and Green have nearly reached an agreement on a new contract, which surely would reduce significantly Green's base salary of $7.2 million.

The only remaining hurdle is the striking of a deal between Miami and Kansas City. Published reports indicate that the Fins are willing to send the seventh-round pick (one of the last in the draft) that was obtained from the Patriots as part of the Wes Welker trade. The Chiefs, apparently, want more."

Fear the Fish!

anyone else see the irony in the fish trading for Damon Huard's backup...when they already had Huard and let him go?

Not a good sign for Culpepper.

IMO, Green owes Willie Roaf 1/2 his paycheck and 90% of his reputation.

Not a good sign for Culpepper.

Cam Cameron said in a PC that Culpepper will be invited to QBs camp in April where he and Green will likely battle for the spot. We can't keep both of these guys on the roster heading into training camp so I expect the loser to get released. (And there's probably about a 90% chance DC is on the way out.) I just hope Green can bounce back from his concusion riddled season last year.

Not a good sign for Dolphins. They should draft a 1st round quarterback.

If Quinn falls to the Dolphins that would be a dream scenario. Allow Green to start for a year or 2 while teaching Cameron's offense to Quinn (which Green already knows from his days in Washington.) If that doesn't happen, I expect Miami to attack Drew Stanton with the 2nd rounder you guys gave us, or our 3rd round pick.

Here's what Miami's QB depth chart will likely look like this year.

1. Trent Green
2. Cleo Lemon
3. Brady Quinn/ Drew Stanton

What did the Fish give up for Daunte? A 2nd?

And then they gave up a 2nd for AJ Feeley as well right?

Just a complete mess in Miami,

Green isn't that good and now he's older, slower, and more brittle.

CPepp's been a complete waste of time while Brees has been an all-pro.

I don't see things getting any better there for some time unless they can get a QB that is actually good.

When was the last time they had someone who you actually feared?
Marino.

That's a long time.

I actually thought there were a few years there were Fiedler was an eternal thorn in our side.

And wasn't there a stretch where Fiedler was the 2nd winningest starting QB next to Brady? Still not sure why they totally ditched him. Thought he had 2-3 more decent seasons in him when they cut their ties.

Fiedler has been hands down the best Miami QB since Marino (sad, isn't it?) Fiedler was in fact the best in terms of winning percentage for a small period of time. He was the QB from 2001-2003 where he went 30-18 (or in that neighborhood.) The thing was, he wasn't a playmaker. All he did was make the safe throws and magange the game and allow the defense to win football games. This was something Joey Harrington couldn't do this year. If Joey had cut down the picks significantly, the Dolphins would've been .500 or better.
