I've noticed that any references to the draft, such as mocks, etc, are being relocated to the draft board. Ordinarily there wouldn't be a problem with this. I understand that you're just doing your jobs, however, could you please consider that as we are quickly approaching the draft, this is the time of year that it should be proper to talk about the draft as well as free agency on the main board. By moving draft talk out it leaves little subject matter to discuss on the main board.

Please leave the mock drafts and draft discussions alone on this board!!!!!

Thank You.

I second this request.....the number one spot I go to for any breaking news or updates is right here.

Often, I have about 60 seconds to get quick updates..

Please - as we approach draft day - leave them here, just as we have in past years.

My preference, not that I was asked, is to move them. It encourages more threads over there and prevents the same stuff on both boards and it's a pain to have to reply to both.

I kinda agree with you, Scott37. Personally, I have only been moving draft threads that talk about the draft needs, etc. of other teams. If it is a Pats draft thread, I leave it alone. Especially, at this time of year, I think it is pretty darn relevant to the football forum. Between May and February, however, I would move it to the draft forum.

Different Mods have different outlooks on things. Maybe some of the other Mods can weigh in on this.

Why even HAVE a draft Forum if draft topics aren't posted there???

smells like the doing of pats1.......give the man enough rope he's liable to hang himself

I have been pondering this. Ponderng is really hard on the head.

However, I look at it this way. If it's Patriots specific such as,"I think Patrick Willis is awesome and the Patriots should draft him" then it should stay on the main board.

If it's mock drafts or just throwing names for no specific Patriots reason, then it should be on the draft forum. BTW, the draft forum has some great threads and good info being posted and it's worth checking in until the first of May.

As ususal things don't fit a nice neat package so the judgement of the mods have to be used. there have been more threads moves lately, draft or no draft, and my opinion is that some should have stayed open.

I've tried to keep a light hand on moving things too. For instance, a thread like "perspective......the 2000 draft" seems to me like a perfect general-interest topic. I'd only move hard-core draftnik material.

But what about when there's already an active 3-page thread on the draft board on the exact same topic? Just post a link in the new thread to alert people?

How hard is it to click the Patriots Draft Forum link?

The draft forum is a safe place for draftniks to seriously geek out. :)

(so speaks the gal who recently posted a proposed formula for recalibrating the pick value chart. :eat1: )

I think for the most part the mods here have historically spent too much time pondering and too little time moderating. Pats1 simply moderates, and it works as I imagine Ian though it would when he decided to empower mods to merge or move threads and created dedicated forums for specific topics like the draft. I go there now to see if there is anything of real interest I should be pondering as the draft approaches, but thus far there really hasn't been. Just lots of other people pondering aloud.

Perhaps a month from now when the focus turns entirely to the impending draft the moderation of draft topics on the main board should moderate as well to just weeding out and merging redundant or inane threads. But for now I think for once the system is working here.

But if you stop pondering for too long, you can lose your pondering powers. You will forget to rub your chin and that alone can throw your pondering way off.

I agree with the OP! This consistant and sensical moderating of the general board is an outrage!

Moving threads about the drafts, e.g. mock draft threads, to the draft forum? Have you lunatics lost your mind? I expect my draft threads to be right here in forum number 10, along with threads about the Dolphins, Jets, and Randy Moss, and none of you tyranical forum-janitors can say otherwise!

I've been the one moving most of the threads, and that's been exactly my line of thinking.

The draft forum seems to be real popular now, and I think it's best to have all the Pats draft needs/mocks/player visits in that one central location.

Why am I supposed to care how many threads on in the draft forum? I come to the board hoping to find the most relevant and topical posts on the main board. If PFW, just for example, puts out a mock draft today, it may be about the draft, but it's also relevant and topical for the main board. Or, for example, how do you propose to break down a "Bam traded for #7 pick" thread? It certainly would be more important on the draft forum than on the main forum, if significance of impact matters at all. The time for these threads to be moved isn't until after the threads have died, imo.

You know....there wouldnt be this problem if it wasn't for power hungry warcraft lovers like pats1 :enranged: ...........give a man too much rope and he all of a sudden wants to be a cowboy.

I'm not the one who created the draft forum - that would be Ian.

There's a big difference between a "Bam traded for a #7 pick" thread and a "Patrick Willis?" thread.

Why did you delete theONLYJerseypatsfan's post? Because it was critical of your "moderating" ???

Do you have anything better to do than running around and criticizing me?

I undeleted it, if it makes you happy.

Must take alot of mental energy to move threads through time and space!
Are you one of those creatures in DUNE that can fold space as well?

Seriously - if this site is going to have a draft forum area - then we ALL must use it (and keep moving the draft threads). Otherwise it just defeats the purpose of having a draft area and it is confusing having draft material in two different areas (plus duplication issues).

Denmark has made its vote. (and there is NOTHING rotten in the state of Denmark - don't believe Willy S. ) :bricks:
