#24 - Reggie Nelson DB Flordia (if he is there)/Michael Griffin DB Texas
#29 - Jon Beason LB Miami

I would be very pleased with ither combonation... playmakers

thoughts?

I would be happy with those picks.
However, there are concerns with Nelson's ability to play in complicated defenses.
With that note however, he did get a personal workout from BB and if they didn't think he had it mentally why would they work out?

#24 Spencer or Posluszny

#28 Griffin

yea.. alot of that is just bs if you ask me in regards to him being able to play in complicated defenses.. there really isnt any evidence to back that up. all I know is that this guy is one hell of a playmaker, in a system BB knows very well and has a full scouting report from Meyer

Well, 1st off, I think you have it backwards. I think that they gave him the "private workout" to see if he had the mental ability to play in the Pats complicated defense.

2ndly, Something about Nelson just knaws at my gut. I don't want him, personally.

No evidence? Hmm.. so you are saying that the defense he played in wasn't dumbed down and that the reports that it was are just BS?

Sorry, but I will believe scouts who are PAID to find out this sort of information over some message board poster any day and twice on Draft day.

dumbed down? how so?

take denver for instence last year, they played a simple D keeping everything infront of them... was that "dumbed down"
"Champ Baily played in a simple system, oh he couldnt possibly play for the pats" ... thats a bit foolish

as for reports I have yet to see any, plus just because a player is in a "simple" system does not mean that that player is not capable of playing in another system (unless your name is mike vick)

FWIW, the system that the Gators used this past year looked remarkably like the system they've been using for about five years now... at least as long as Charlie STrong has been around.

It might have been "dumbed down" slightly early in the year, but that would have had more to do with the other guys in the secondary (Nelson was the only returning starter) than with Reggie.

Two round one Safeties? Big spender.

Isn't this the whole reason for the forum? To allow fans to throw out some ideas or express their ideas? Just a post before you mentioned Nelson just knaws at my gut..

I have narrowed in down to 20 or so, in order I would pick from this list working top down. Tried to factor, scheme and bust factor into the analysis.

Players with no chance of sliding past 15 have been left off. Included are some players with very little chance of being available at 24.

- 2 different positions will be drafted, so for example if a CB is drafted then the rest are scratched off the board

Adam Carriker DE
Leon Hall DB
Marshawn Lynch RB
Darelle Revis DB
Patrick Willis LB
Reggie Nelson S
Michael Griffin S
Robert Meachem WR
Aaron Ross DB
Paul Posluszny LB
Chris Houston DB
Joe Staley OT
Jon Beason LB
Levi Brown RT
Justin Harrell DT
Anthony Spencer DE
Jarvis Moss DE
Dwayne Bowe WR
Ben Grubbs OG
Ted Ginn WR
Dwayne Jarrett WR
Justin Blalock RT/OG
Aaron Sears RT/OG

I dont think I understand

with the 24th pick they would choose one or the other...

I think BOR is eluding to the fact Beason came to Miami as a safety and is trying to be cute about it.

good list dude. now I know we can never count anything out at the draft, but I would like to focus on two different groupings from that list

Likely and non likely

Likely would include CB/FS/SS OLB/ILB DE and RB

while non likely would include WR RT/OG/OT/LT and DT

none of those are in any particular and of course, what positions belong in what lists are up for argument. And again there is no particular order when creating the specific lists, just easier to organize

Likely

Marshawn Lynch RB
Anthony Spencer DE
Jarvis Moss DE
Adam Carriker DE
Patrick Willis LB
Jon Beason LB
Paul Posluszny LB
Leon Hall DB
Darelle Revis DB
Chris Houston DB
Aaron Ross DB

My list is a bit shorter:
