Chiefs | S. Knight released
Wed, 21 Mar 2007 22:04:10 -0700

Len Pasquarelli, of ESPN.com, reports the Kansas City Chiefs have released S Sammy Knight. The release came after the two sides could not agree on a reworked contract.

Sorry if someone already mentioned it. Probably wouldn't sign with the Pats, but a small possibility. I'm sure he wants to be a starter and there is no way that would happen. But he would be nice insurance if Rodney was to go down again, for a good price that is (which will also not happen since he didn't want to rework his contract). Anyway, he is going to be 32 this year, but has hardly had any injuries at all throughout his entire career (I believe he only missed 2 games and that was his second year in the league). Probably won't happen, but just thought it would be worth a mention.

he was awsome with the fins

No I do not think it will be possible..that's what happens..a player gets older and wants ro play...start as the legs get weaker and it is harder..And that is all OK..why NOT try and be a starter and the bigger money..the problem is when the expectations are greater than the actual reality of how one plays..10 years in the league?? Would be a solid backup...something they really have ot had..No..money wishing to be a starter...no do not see it happening..Always good to speculate and mention...

Sammy has, indeed, been remarkably durable. Still, he probably will be offered more money and playing time from another club.

My wish is for a SS to be drafted, maybe on Saturday, then go to TC with him, Rodney, Sanders, Mel Mitchell and a Street FA/UDFA.

Maybe he'd take less to play for a winner.

He'll be 32 by the time the season starts. He was great. Maybe he can be the next Rodney.

It all depends where his head is at...if it's a winning org..and less money HERE M<AY be the place..I just don't see it now..but one can hope..

He would be a good insurance policy in the event either Harrison or Wilson are injured at some point this season which based on the past few seasons is all but a guarantee.

I agree.
Don't know if we have the cap space but would love to stash him on the roster.

Yes.
When management comes to you demanding that you take less
... and you say No ...
you have to know that probably no other club is going to pay you like your former contract read, either.
This is your NEW, reduced but inescapable market value.

You leave your old club in those circumstances
not because you refuse to take your new, lower market value
... but because you want to try another team.
You may even have one in mind.
And they may have you in mind - and have let you know it - all unofficially, of course.

I don't want to see anymore 30-something retreads, street FAs, or PS-type players in the secondary. I'm hoping the Pats use this draft to retool the DB corps.

Pass on Knight.

That may be true but he's still very productive. Last year he had as many tackles as ever.
