Zach Moore or Michael Sam?

I just don't think he's going to be a very good NFL player. Am I not allowed to have that opinion?

Projections by the media this year were all over the place and generally wrong. Jackson Jeffcoat was projected 3rd-4th round and went undrafted, what prejudice do you propose caused him to fall so much, EnglishPatriot?

If the Patriots were still a 3-4 base i think there is more likelihood Belichick takes a flyer on Sam but not when they are moving sharply towards a 4-3 base. Moore is a DE project for a 4-3 line, Sam is an OLB project in a 3-4 base.

Those combine numbers don't look good and i guess it's just a time will tell thing, but what if he goes and becomes a good player at this level and his numbers were as a result of lack of focus like many others have produced at the combine what's the excuse? Like i said we'll see but the early reasons as to why he's 249 when mock drafts had him rounds 3-6 is suspect to say the least.

It's not suspect, it happens every year. Like I already mentioned in the thread, Jeffcoat was voted the best DE in the country. He was a 3-4th round pick at worst. He went undrafted.

Just wondering apart from the stinking obvious reason why on earth would you take a fly on Moore over Sam?

Impressive attempt to turn their selection of football players into social injustice. Bravo. Perhaps a bit too sensational even for ESPN...but probably not.

And if the Rams decide he sucks? (pun not intended) Fisher will the homophobe and Sam will be the victim....rather than just another guy not good enough.

The gay athlete boldly coming out of the closet has jumped the shark.

Like when Kyle Love got cut last year and Florio turned it into a big "THEY BREACHED HIS HUMAN RIGHTS!!!" thing because he has Diabetes.

Not at all i just don't like people being held back because they're not status quo. As long as they're not a serial killer tight end nothing off the field should get in the way of what they can do on it. If he is cut then no i'm not labelling Fisher or the Rams anything, he was cut because he couldn't make it. Simple.

Kony Ealy is not that good for Sam to just be an all american out of the blue. Personally i feel there was alot of prejudice towards him and why he went so late, it simply doesn't correlate and a guy picked out of Concordia a whole round before him speaks to that.

Whether or not Moore is raw or not doesn't really matter because his max out doesn't make him better than Sam because he wouldn't be playing at that school otherwise.
I hope you realize the people drafting players don't care what your feelings are. You could be right but I'll stick to what I've seen and read. Also, you need to realize Sam only had one very good year in college. If other people didn't see the fit, what's the big deal?

I get the feeling you want to turn this into a sexual preference debate @English Patriot.

Lack of focus is on him and if he had those results because he lacked focus then he deserved his draft slot. If you cannot focus on the most important workouts of your life then you are not dedicated enough to the game.

If I was Sam I would have focused all of my attention on the draft and my workouts, and then made my announcement after I was selected. He put the cart in front of the wagon and that indicated to some that he was more concerned with being an ambassador for gay rights than playing football.

Sam's 3-cone drill would have given Belichick nightmares.

That's exactly what i don't want it to be. I'm saying it shouldn't be an issue but feel it was.

You feel it was but you've had a host of people respond to you believing Sam simply doesn't project to be a good player in the NFL. It's not out of the realm of possibility that NFL GM's and coaches believe the same thing too.

II am pretty sure Belichik would draft a hermaphrodite with a giant ding dong growing from his forehead if it would help the team.

And if they could find a helmet that would fit.

but feel it was.

Well you feel wrong, he is quite clearly not a fit in in the Patriots scheme, that 3 cone time alone would have got him taken off the Patriots draft board!

Kudos to you for making 2 troll threads in the space of a couple of days, though.

My best friend is gay, I am an airline pilot most of my male work friends are gay. I go to gay clubs and bars regularly and have a great time as do many other straight men and women.

Gay or straight does not have anything to do with it. I do not think Michael Sam has the talent to play at the NFL level.

Oh no doubt most teams did but then it gets to a stage where it's like "come on, that guy over a someone who produced in the toughest conference by far in the nation."

In my opinion, it doesn't. Whilst I acknowledge you have to take into consideration College Football accomplishments what it ultimately comes down to is perceived fit and NFL projection.

Of course as long as it's the only thing.
What do you mean "the only thing"?? If someone believes a gay man should not be in a NFL locker room that person can't have that opinion? If someone expresses such an opinion is it right for the whole media and NFL establishment to jump down that person's throat?

Right, we had a serial killer on our team and we followed that up by signing Jesus 2.0 as our third string QB. I do not think the gay DE was the player we feared would be a distraction.
