IMO Polian has made his first highly questionable move in the offseason by losing Montae Reagor, who signed with the Eagles. I figured that Montae wasn't going to ever be able to play again as the reason that the Colts cut him, but the Eagles have guaranteed him $2M. This is a questionable move by Polian b/c Reagor's cap hit wasn't too high for a quality D-lineman. The Colts are pretty thin on the DL and will need to draft one or two guys there. People may think Colts' fans are delusional for dismissing the loss of guys like June and Rhodes, but Montae was the best player we've lost IMO and the cap hit really wasn't too bad. So this should show people that Colts' fans aren't delusional! :)

Well he's important because the Colts love to rotate their defensive tackles to keep them fresh. With free agency winding down and the draft coming up, itll be interesting to see who they target to take his slot in the rotation.

they went 12-4 with possibly the worst run defense in history. I really don't care who the colts lose, they've got our number at this point and we're playing in their house again so they have the advantage. The game isn't played on paper.

Yes, it's much more difficult to find quality D-linemen than LBs who can't play the run or backup RBs. I've liked everything Polian has done this offseason, but it pained me when Reagor was cut, and then when I saw he signed with the Eagles last night I was not happy at all.

It will be interesting to see how much he contributes. He still didn't look right at the Super Bowl. That one eye was kind of staring off into space.

Reagor struck me as a useful piece of the puzzle for the Colts, but it's impossible for me, as a NE guy, to say much more. Maybe the Colts fans could comment on his usefulness, his skills, his leadership (if any)? If he was merely a competent cog, I am not sure how this hurts them much...

More than likely they will target the apple of Polian's eye, Quinn Pit****.

Quality pass rusher, plays with great technique and leverage, gives 100% every play, good human being. A good fit in the 3 technique. Polian may very well have a plan for replacing him, but it is a move that you can question at this point.

Montae was the best player we've lost

Marcus Washington, Edgerrin James and David Thornton are all real good players the Colts have lost. Granted, I understand the salary cap was a big part of the reason they let those players go, but they are still top-notch talents. Better than Reagor, IMO.

You're right, but we're talking about in this off-season.

Who knows maybe Alan Branch will slide, but it would be hard for them to move up without that number 2. I recently read somewhere ( I forget where) that a lot of people are souring on Branchbecause of perceived laziness/lack of effort in his workouts. At least he could take up space.

Agreed. More of a pass rusher than a run stopper. He is listed at 6'3" and 285. He fit well in the Colts philosophy of having the tackles disrupt pocket.

After reading his comments on an Eagles site, he certainly seems like a good guy, and he doesn't seem bitter about leaving Indy (not that he should be--he he got a ring, is going to a good team, and he hasn't been a lifetime Colt). His eye still looks pretty bad, but that's expected.

It must be a little bittersweet, though--to have been a starter on a Super Bowl squad, not be able to play, and then be allowed to leave without a chance to play with your guys again. I will say this--had it happened in NE, someone would have written a foolish article lambasting the team for not caring about a badly injured player, with a headline like "Reagor's Departure Gives Heartless Pats Black Eye".

You forgot to mention "classless".

What's the deal with Corey Simon?

All I remember is that when he was acquired it was considered a great move that perfectly filled a need, next thing I know, he has some sort of undisclosed problem and misses the whole year.

Not sure, but I thought I read either he was released or it was thought he might be or he may not be back again this year.

What's his problem and what's his current status?
are the colts expecting him on the team this year?

and what about Mike Doss? Do you expect him to sign elsewhere, and if he does, is it a loss for the colts or another no big deal to them?

It was leaked as polyarthritis, which is arthritis in multiple joints. But I don't think there was anything official. There has been a lot of speculation as to what the "real deal" is with the situation. The most common waas that Simon was out of sahpe again and not ready to play football. His being out of shape could have contributed to the poly arthritis, if that's what he has. Those that think he was out of shape think the Colts gave him a chance to get ready and he blew it so they got fed up and put him on the PUP. Who knows what the real deal is. He was on the sidelines for many of the home games, so you would think that htere isn't a lot of bad blood. As of right now he is still on the Colts roster, who knows what's coming though. If he has recoverd and is in shape, I think the Colts would welcome him back as long as last year wasn't an ugly scene behind the scenes.

Mike Doss is coming off a major knee injury and also lost his starting spot to Bethea. The only team that I have seen show any interest is the Bucs, but I haven't heard anything in a while. I think if the price is right the Colts will resign him. But I don't think the Colts will try to stop him from leaving if someone else makes a run at him. He was solid before getting hurt, but hasn't really lived up to the expectation they had for him when he was a 2nd round pick.

I agree, I'm surprised they weren't more active in signing him. I was especially surprised that they didn't make a harder run at Cato June. The amount of tackles that he makes will be hard to replace.

They've lost players this offseason that were such a big part of their success. Honestly, I'm not complaining.:)

The entire fan base is delusional. After doing all they could the previous 4 years...the NFL finally gave poster boy Satin Manning his ring.

Now the entire country has to watch this media whore on every other tv comercial during the season. He did 50 tv spots each season before he ever won anything...I'm bracing myself for what's to come now that he finally has a ring.
