So if Mallett never gets traded, will people be upset?
No because we'll have a backup for next year that the F.O. clearly trusts.

The best thing about this debate is that it gets settled in the next 48 hours.
I will only be upset if they take less than value for him, anything that isn't a real upgrade on what they paid is a losing proposition. If they don't get what they want then keep him.So if Mallett never gets traded, will people be upset?
Yes but we would still get a comp pick out of it. We don't get that if we trade him this season, so I have been putting forth a scenario that sees 3 QB on the roster this year, Mallett as primary backup, #3 as understudy to move up after one year is under his belt, and we end up with a comp pick that would have approximately the same value if we traded him for a 3rd round right now.
I think it'll be less than 24 hours.

sadly the mallet getting trading debate wont end until mallet is no longer on the patriots. it could be a day before the final game of the season and someone will start a thread asking "will the pats franchize mallet and then trade him like Cassell?"
We both know I can't promise thatFor the love of God @jays52 would you PLEASE start posting with some regularity again!
except you dont get that 3rd and 5th. its not always about the "point value" BB would rather have 2 rookies to put through the paces then 1.
he wouldn't be adding one, hed just be switching places in the 2nd, and losing his backup QB. thats bad value imo.Have you missed all these years of BB adding 2nd round picks to the team?
NopePeyton Manning.

then again im not bb so maybe hed be interested in that.
potentially. It'll be interesting to watch. But by moving up, he'd be in a position to drop down again.

the only way we trade mallet now that bridgewater is a viking, is if we plan on taking a qb in the 4th or 5th round.
i don't see BB risking losing mallet before taking someone else, and so i dont see mallet getting traded during the draft.
had bridgewater been available, I could have seen a mallet for 33, and at 33 taking bridgewater.
