Very true. It depends on whether they like clinton Dix or not. If they rank deone buchannon over him, I can see them trading back. I think buchannon may be the surprise pick for the patriots, but who we pick obviously depends on what 28 other teams ahead of us pick.

The only question I have with the top 25 is that different corners and WR's could slip in place of those that Mayock has listed. Otherwise the top 25 seems solid. And yes, Donald and Barr have been dropping. I suppose that we could trade up with KC to get Donald, but I don't see it happening.

If we stay, I could see us picking Amaro, or ASJ, or Tuitt. Others also suggest Hagmen, Nix and Ealy.

I don't think BB would pounce on him. If Nix and Donald were both there he'd take Nix imo. Until i see otherwise i'm sticking to his past history of liking bigger players.

I agree, as much as i like and want Shazier or Donald i need to see some proof that Belichick has changed the metrics for drafting different positions.

There is some circumstantial evidence to that effect. Bring in Wesley Woodyard, the high price signing of Revis and bringing in Easley and Sutton for visits. Nothing definitive but it does suggest he might be leaning towards a more aggressive defense. Still if he drafts 260+ DE's, 250+ linebackers and 6'4" 300lb DTs this year then he's probably never going smaller and quicker on defense.

Then so is Revis. Repaired ACLs are not a problem...the new techniques are amazing (I haven't had an ACL in one leg since the 70's...next time I hurt it, I'm getting a full repair). I don't think Easley had microfracture surgery, did he? There's the trouble.

I agree that Woodyard probably means he is looking for LB's who can cover but I still think we need to see him taking smaller more athletic defenders before buying into the change in metrics.

Oh I agree. We'll know in the next 72 hours presumably. The only trouble is, there's more, better smaller guys this year than there are bigger guys, particularly at the edge positions and at linebacker.

With Jace Amaro in the first, it would just solidify my belief that BB loves some TT players.

Why is that? We rarely draft from Texas Tech, let alone the Big 12.

Agree completely, if he is going to make a change this is the time to do it. If hee does then we can really start looking at different players in coming free agency's and draft's.

Let Revis/Browner/Dennard nail down the outside guys, and flood the middle with speedy coverage guys while a combination of Jones, Jones, Wilfork, Kelly, Hightower, Ninko, and Armstead rush off the line. That's a top five defense right there.

Especially Donald. Good lord, would I be upset. The problem is that it may take a lot to move up--or at least that would be my concern.

I think a lot of this mock is on point, such as Shazier's spot, the fact that CLE will take a QB at 26, Mosley to the Ravens, and Dennard going in the top 12-14 picks.

I would be kind of surprised to see us take Amaro at 29, however.

If Donald slides that far and we don't trade up I would literally weep, like my dad's friend did when the birds took Mike Mamula over Warren Sapp.

Jace Amaro has that bust feel to him imo, seems more like a BB 2nd rounder than a 1st rounder. Typically more safe in the 1st and less projection involved. You def have to project Amaro as a more traditional TE because he was basically a slot receiver @ tech.

I like his mock overall tho.

Yes, I'm assuming some relative good fortune here, but I also forgot Smith as an option, and that means there are 8 guys who have some potential pass rush skill, and you only need 4 of them on any given play. I'll take the odds that we're going to have a good enough line to complement a coverage 7 that has added talent through the draft.

We used a second in 2012, and a third in 2013 on the safety position, I cannot really see us trading up to use a first round pick on the safety position this year anyway.

The 2012 second rounder has been just about useless and the 2013 third rounder played just a bit better than the 2012 second rounder and is ideally a back-up FS. What we have across from McCourty is nothing to write home about so it's perfectly feasible that the team spends a first rounder on a safety.

I'm sure they looked at him pretty closely, so let's keep our fingers crossed.

One thing to remember is that taking him in the 1st gives us the option to use the fifth year, so I'm expecting him to be more of a "future" player, with some rotational potential for this upcoming year (hopefully).

There's also a picture going around that shows Ha-Ha sitting on his couch with a big old pre draft doobie rolled up as well, if those kinds of issues may bother you in regards to using a 1st round pick.

I am not one who cares all that much myself, but if you're dumb enough to get your pic taken sitting next to a big joint and post it on draft day, then your intelligence is coming in question with me.
