Re: Shaub traded to Texans

I read on KFFL that the trade involved a swap of 1st round picks too and that the addition pick to Atlanta was a 2nd rounder of 2008. So Atlanta has #8 pick now and Houston has #10, I believe. I think Atlanta will still go for Landry at 8, who knows?

Yeah, I saw that. Wow, the Falcons made a great deal here! I think the Falcons may go for Jamaal Anderson. They have no decent replacement for Pat Kerney.

I personally think that Landry is a reach at #8. Reggie Nelson is the best safety in this draft IMO.

Re: Shaub traded to Texans

espn.com agrees that there is an agreement in principal, pending resigning Schaub, and it may be completed this PM. Atlanta gives: Schaub + #10
Houston gives #8, plus their 2nd round picks this year and next.

Also speculates that Falcons might go after Wright of Cincinatti.

texans gave up way too much

shaub is 25? and carr is 26.....car has 5 years starting exper. while shaub, looks like he has a whole lot of promise doenst have as much as carr, obviously,

but then again, shaub looked really good throwing the ball to crumpler......white and jenkins.....so...he looked goo throwing it to crumpler....with johnson, he'll probably become the new face of the texans...which isnt a great senario for the pats, if the lions and browns pass up on quinn...he could fall to #9

on that note, anderson would be a great pickup here, knowing that they have the texans' and their own 2nd round picks to use as bargaining to trade into the 1st round and draft a safety like nelson ahead of the pat's....as some of you stated before

I would be happy to trade them the 24, or 28 for their 40 +42. Nelson isn't a fit for the Pats D anyway...

Re: Shaub traded to Texans

He's not going to do any better than Carr did behind that line. I don't understand why people are so quick to blame Carr for the Texans woes, he's a fine young quarterback, the problem is he doesn't have an offensive line or running back. I bet Brady wouldn't do much better than the 82.1 rating Carr posted with that crew.

Re: Matt Schaub to Texans

Just thinking out loud. Going from an 10 to a 8 is 100 pts. Pick 40 is 500. 2nd round pick next year is probably worth somewhere between 350-500. Basically Atlanta just got about the equivalent of the 16th pick of this years draft for their backup QB (who'll be a free agent at the end of next year as well). Do you think that they could have gotten that much for Vick?

Nelson is a great fit for any D. I may have a man-crush on him, but IMO he's the best free safety to come into the NFL since Ed Reed.

Re: Shaub traded to Texans

This is an absolute stael for the Falcons..

First off moving from 10 to 8 and then two #2s

Houston is paying for Schaub, what they would have to pay to get to the tenth pick in the draft!!! (according to the trade value chart).

Plus moving to #8 is a great spot for Atlanta. If Quin drops to #8, they can entertain offers from everyone who wants to jump Miami at #9 to get him.

Re: Shaub traded to Texans

Jeez, I like Schaub, but cmon. They just got robbed.

Also Vick has ben hurt each of the last few years. And D.J. SHockley is absolutely AWFUL, he wasn't even a good QB at Georgia, and I can't see him being any better in the Pros.

Re: Shaub traded to Texans

The Atlanta Falcons have traded quarterback Matt Schaub to the Houston Texans for a second-round pick in this year's draft, a second-round pick in next year's draft, and a flip flop of spots in the first round this year. Atlanta now will go to No. 8 from No. 10; Houston will go from No. 8 to No. 10.

Seems like a steep price to pay for a guy who is relatively unproven. Their 2nd round pick this year is high, as will be their pick next year. For a team that needs players, sending two picks and flip flopping firsts is steep. The guy better pan out.

Agreed, Shockley is almost as bad as Vick.

The Texans just got hosed. Carr has the tools, but also has some of those Drew Bledsoe scars from getting hit & sacked for a number of years. If I were Minny, I'd swoop in and steal Carr for 30 cents on the dollar. I bet he fetches something like a 4 & 5, or maybe a 3rd + filler. Cheap for a 26 year old with his physical talents and experience. Carr with Taylor in the backfield could be good. The Texans can't run or block period.

Schaub will be 26. Carr will be 28.

Re: Shaub traded to Texans

Two second round picks and a move up in the first for Matt Schaub?! WTF?!!!

I agree that the Texans O-line is an issue. However, they have made strides to fix it and their running game. On the O-line, they added, Eric Winston and Charles Spencer last year. They also signed Jordon Black from the Chiefs and Black will be a good guy for them to push Winston and Spencer. The question, now, is their interior. How many more years does Flanagan have?

With the running game, they have Ahman Green added to Wali Lundy, Samkon Gado and Ron Dayne.

They need to get GB on the horn right now to see if Vernand Morency is available! Or maybe Noah Herron!

Re: Matt Schaub to Texans

Atlanta has NO DOUBT secured Landry.

Now here is an interesting question... does Milloy get the axe??
