I suspect that best use of our first pick, perhaps after a trade down (if Mosely and Shazier are gone) may be at linebacker.

I can't help but notice that you've only named the linebackers you DON'T expect to pick. :)

Are you hanging your hat on Kyle Van Noy? What other true LB do you see as close to round-1 value? (Or are you looking at the pass-rushing DE/OLBs?)

:) I'm fine with Shazier or Mosley at 29, or Noy on a trade down.

And yes, one of the OLB's would be fine too: Jones, Attachou. Lots of folks have Skov associated with us at 62, although that might be a bit early. Borland and Smallwood seem possible at 93.

It seems quite likely that the BPA's at 29 will be at QB, WR and OT.

I love Shazier, could bring SO MUCH to this defense as a hybrid rusher/cover guy etc. but he most likely wont be there at 29 so,

I see Tuitt as the guy that BB must love. 6'6 305. Can play DE in the 4-3 or 3-4 and could play DT in a 4-3.
A lot of versatility and also length and size. He's in the 30s on most big boards so at 29 he's not a reach and he fills a big need on the DL

Outside of Tuitt, I like a Jeremiah Attaochu. He is more of a reach, but is a good OLB rusher and adds depth to the LB corps.

Another I like is, Kelvin Benjamin. I know, I know. Huge risk and his value is dropping. Honestly if BB took KB at 29 I don't know how I'd feel.
He can fit as a red zone target (6'5) while also giving a mismatch as a possible WR/TE type role. He's one of the few who can bring that in this draft. If we get him he fills the WR and TE spot imo. I don't know totally how I feel about him, but off size sheer size I think BB/TB would make him an impact guy.

Besides that, I'm not high on Van Noy. eh on Lawrence. Don't really want Hageman the more I think about it. Nix would be... ok..

Tuitt is my guy, and hopefully BB's

Shazier's been my guy for a while, but I sadly agree that there's little chance. In today's NFL, an instinctive LB with the speed and athleticism of a top CB has to make defensive coordinators starry-eyed.

Exactly. He's a true definition of a football player. He has put on like 10-15 lbs. too for NFL teams and still ran a freaking 4.38 at his pro day... god. his speed and instincts would be dirty with Collins, Mayo and Hightower out there.

Lavonte David, Alec Ogletree and Jamie Collins all suggest that there's a chance he falls to us. linebackers are devalued.

And after Mike Evans and Aaron Donald, Shazier is my no1 guy too. I want to see what he, playing a hybrid role, and Jamie Collins can do together.

Donald requires #13 from Rams - Shazier #20 from Cards - Tuitt #29 from Patriots. Where do ppl see the best value vs need?
Evans is a weeeeet dream

We already have 3 starting linebackers.

The starting DT's we have are both coming off season ending injuries and are on the wrong side of 30. I don't know how anyone can say LB is the best use of our first pick.

Cuz Siliga did a good job filling in last year. From what I seen, I'm more them comfortable with Siliga if VW isn't ready to go.

Drafting Shazier who's an athletic freak could free up Collins , who I think has the potential of being the joker of this defense.

Shazier, Mosley, Tuitt, Easley, ASJ, Amaro, Filo, Niklas, Lee... If we draft any of those players with our first 2 picks of be ecstatic.

Between 29-55? Kyle Van Noy, Stephon Tuitt, Ra'Shede Hageman, Joel Bitonio, Marcus Martin, Xavier Su'a Filo & CJ Fiedorowicz.

Got a feeling Shazier goes as early as the Vikings.

The better player is the best use of our pick. Find me a DT that better impacts our defense than Shazier and I'll be with you. Shazier can impact the safety position, he can free up Collins to rush the passer more and is no slouch as a blitzer himself and on top of that, adds some lightning speed that our front seven sorely lacks. You never know, we could get Shazier and Easley.

I want Shazier as well, and after lobbying for a Buckeye draft pick (not named Ebner, smartasses) for awhile, he'd be the perfect fit in my draft dream scenario.

Carlos Hyde would go a long way as well, even if we have higher needs/priorities. As manxman points out, it's more about the BPA than it is trying to fill the needs with our top 4-5 picks. It's this reasoning as to why I'd like to see the backup QB position filled with our 2nd fourth round pick as well. It allows us to still grab one of the QBs with talent, while not overreaching with one of the top picks.

I think that Ryan Shazier is a climber though, and won't be anywhere near us, with his floor being at 24-25 at worst.

I don't think it's a given that Shazier is out of range at all. Going back to '09, only three WILL LBs have gone in the first round. One was Alec Ogletree last year who went 30th in a very weak draft, one was Sean Weatherspoon and one was Aaron Curry. Now sure, linebackers who run faster than DBs aren't all that common, but in such a deep draft I don't think Shazier making it to 29 is a stretch at all.

I have DT, S, DE, TE as my top needs in rounds 1-3.

Hageman intrigues and scares the hell out of me, when all things are equal college productive sways me.Bruschi, Troy Brown, Vrabel, Faulk, Welker were all had sensational college resumes, but I digress.

What about Calvin Pryor at 29? I am not beating the drum for a "Hard hitting Safety" but he does add a slightly different dimension to the secondary.

Nix is my not sexy "solid" pick in round 1.

If Pryor is there, he's my guy. I'd be willing to trade up a couple slots if necessary. His reputation here as a "enforcer" is overblown. He is a complete safety.

Agreed. Evans may not even get TO the Giants, let alone past them.

I'd be shocked at this point if Evans falls outside the first 7 picks. He has some inherent talents that cannot be coached.

I disagree, taking a LB in rounds one or two would indicate the need for a starting caliber LB, we have three very good starters in Mayo, Hightower, and Collins. We need to add depth at LB and there is plenty of quality LBs available in the middle rounds that would fit perfectly. This team has needs in the trenches on both sides of the football that is what needs to be addressed early on.

I don't think that Shazier is out of range. For example, the nfl.com mock yesterday jad him available at 29 (they picked ASJ).

It seems reasonable to expect the run on corners and wide receivers that most are forecasting. I suspect that Shazier would require a bit of a trade up, but perhaps not.
