Bob McGinn's Prospect Rating Series

As always, the more I read about the draft the less I really know. The Cliff Notes are so vague and so contradictory on the whole that I honestly don't know what any player really is...Paralysis by analysis......

Thanks for the post. Like the multiple scout interpretation. From that I like Scott Crichton, Daquan Jones and Joel Botonio

Best one is the Shamar Stephen write-up: "plays his ass off" and "doesn't go hard very often."

Bob McGinn is one of the better plugged in guys commenting on the draft.

Still struck by how deep this RB group is. If someone like Devonta Freeman is king to be available on day three, then that's real value. Also, I don't know if others saw this but Trey Millard had a 33 on his wonderlic which is pretty darn good.

1.I found it interesting that Scott Crichton was the first DE who actually had a good report and he was #6.

2.As for those incongruities, one scout rated Ebron's hands "special" despite the fact he drops 11% of his passes.

3. Based on the DT, DE, and TE info I read, I'll have to revise my initial top 3 of Hageman, Niklas, and Ealy and change to Crichton, Easly, and ASJ

4. I don't want an ILB from this draft, but bast on these reports, Shazier and KPL still stand out as that hybrid "coverage LB" type that every team is going to need.

5. So I guess if I were drafting for the first 4 rounds I would do the following. Trade down to get 2 second round picks plus another early 4th. Then take ASJ and Easly in the 2nd, Crichton in the 3rd, and finally use your 4th round picks to select KPL, OLB, A.Williams RB, and either D.Thomas or D.Dozier for the interior OL with the idea of replacing Wendell NEXT season.

6. This was a very interesting piece. What I found so fascinating was how RARELY there was any consensus from the the scouts. Sort of like the draft board, but with actual direct knowledge. ;). You get to see how hard it actually is to make a correct pick. There are rarely any real easy selections, even in the first round. By the time the Pats draft, every choice will have their questions marks

Definitely striking how much better Crichton came off than the others. I just don't know what to think about him, his strengths and weakness are both so glaring. He plays with the most consistent power and aggression of any DE in the draft, but his lower body is horribly stiff.

I love it, these scouts are classic old school. The care more about "He has a little more lead in his pencil than I thought.." or if they "Has a little (expletive) to him"

Seems kind of caveman ish, hopefully there are some modern methods being applied.

I don't think I could find any prospect that all the scouts liked. What a pain it must be for teams to consolidate these opinions from all their scouts.

Yep, though that makes anything close to a positive consensus all the more impressive. Three guys I really like who came out pretty well: Joel Bitonio, Christian Kirksey, Allen Robinson.

Bob McGinn has released his top 100 prospects (not in order).

No CJ Fiedorowicz.

Interesting stuff -- ranked within position groups, but not overall. Was a little surprised to see Brent Urban included.

But my main impression: wow, that WR class! Guys like Paul Richardson and Kevin Norwood would be considered major prospects in any other year.

I think the rising tide is lifting those particular boats.

His age is a bit of a problem but Norwood would be an upgrade on Thompkins. I wouldn't mind Norwood or Landry to be Brady's go to guy.
