Just posting this thread for anyone who is having trouble adjusting to the new format. Please respond here if you are and I'll be happy to try and help you through it.

On another note, I finally got the redirects from the old forum working properly, so for anyone who may have old threads bookmarked, those links will now work for you and redirect you to the new version on here. Glad to finally have that out of the way - that was a little trickier to solve than expected ;)

Otherwise still working on little odds and ends here and there. But for anyone having a tough time and looking for help, don't be shy - that's what I'm here for. Also, I'm loving this @ thing, if you guys need me hit me up with that too :)

Ian

BTW, I stuck the welcome thread as it has a lot of answers to some of the questions. But as I said, if you're having difficulty with anything please feel free to post them.

Is there a key somewhere explaining things such as "trophy points" and member ratings? Also:
* Will sig photos be migrated from the old forum?
* When I post photos from my desk top they appear only as tiny thumbnails. Can anything be done about this?
* Is there a way to find out who posted in a thread without going through the whole thread? In the old forum, you could click on the total number of responses to see the poster breakdown.
* Will the action smilies return?

Thanks, Ian.

Can we block threads like we used to be able to ? Too much O.T. stuff.

Everything is smooth from my perspective. The only thing I noticed different is you can't tell when another poster is active (the green dot indicator on the old board). I liked it when you were having an interesting back and forth with another poster and could tell that they were reading your responses, although I could tell it was used in the occasional flame throwing matches also:rolleyes:.

I am happy that all the info was transported like join date and # of messages unlike the last time (well, except for you Mr. Mar 5 2000:cool:). Great work though our fearless leader. No complaints here:D.

Oh yeah, you can't change your veiwing of number of posts per page anymore, right? Is 30 permanent for all? I did 40 on the old board.

Im on a old computer so take this with a grain of salt, but I get random cpu spikes whenever I type anything even as I write this message. that never occured on the old board.

Haven't been on lately with work. Still getting use to everything

Ian

I have absolutely no idea how to send or receive a PM on this new system.

The software works superbly, very fast. I did mention this before. All that stuff between the username and Jersey creates white space about seven times as big as the post, if it's one line. A page of short posts is a lot of scrolling Is it possible to make that hidden until clicked?

I noticed today that on my iPhone, I am unable to click the links in the news feed at the top. It works fine on a desktop, though. Still loving the new forums, though.

They call it "Start a conversation", which is private, but you have the ability to bring people in if necessary. Took me a while and some testing to figure that out, but that basically replaced it and everyone's old private messages from the old system should have all been imported and should be in there.

any word on tapatalk availability?

Glad you pointed that out. I tested it and you're right, it wasn't working. I just went in and fixed an issue with the .css so it should be working for you now

Not yet, although I've been using it so much on my Ipod Touch that aside from the push notifications (which the email notifications ping it anyway) I haven't missed it.

I have tons of issues, but none with the new message board thus far. So unless you have a psychiatry degree Ian, I guess there is nothing you can help me with.

- Still looking into the "trophy point system" and will be addressing the user title thing next weekend. I understand it's annoying having "rookie" under your names, but rest assured, that will be fixed ;)

- The signature photos I've been fixing in spurts. The only issue is if you hotlinked an image that was in an old album, I'll have to go in and grab it for you. I've done that for a bunch of people so if you have one that you want just let me know and I'll dig them out. I'll be rebuilding the albums on a separate system but I've been trying to get back on track with some other things over the last few days, as well as trying to appease my wife who put up with me during this process ;)

- I'll look into the "who posted" issue. Guessing there's a fix there, that's a good feature to have and I'm surprised it's not there.

- I noticed that too that the photos for now appear as attachments. That "is what it is" for now, although I haven't tried hotlinking them after posting them to see if that changes the size. I'll have to mess with that some more.

- I'm still working on the action smilies, haven't had a chance to look into that yet but I definitely will :)

testing one, two....withdrawal over finally. Thank goodness. Seems very clean, a nice improvement. Thanks. :)

Editing is a lot easier, much better interface.

Will definitely need more smileys....
:(
