Does anyone know if Gronk has been running or anything? Just asking because Gronk had ACL surgery on January 9th and Dennis Seidenberg of the Bruins had ACL surgery on January 7th and was skating today at Bruins practice rink in Wilmington.

I saw on Ridley's facebook page a few weeks ago some pictures of Ridley, Gronk and Amendola going up in a mountain, not climbing, just walking it seemed to me.

That's a hell of an exercise for the knees.

I wouldn't expect to hear anything formal from the team until the first NFL-mandated injury report several months from now.

Pure speculation on my part, but from this photo Gronk doesn't seem to be in any pain or having trouble bending the knee, or specifically with recovery from the MCL surgery.

A little more here on this video; no problem with movement for forward, which again would indicate the MCL rehab is going well.

An MCL injury causes problems moving the knee forward and backward (think walking straight forward), while an ACL injury causes problems with lateral movement (think planting all weight on one foot/knee/leg). Unfortunately there are no photos or videos that I know of that show how well that has progressed - though there will have been a decent amount of time from surgery (Jan 9) to training camp (late July) and the start of the regular season (early September, 8 months after surgery).

I just talked to Belichick and he was very upfront about Gronk's injury. He said that while Gronk is not running yet, he is indeed skating also.

Yeah, definitely send Bill a tweet.
You can check in on his recovery from surgery, and how he intends to use him in 2014, given any limitations early in the season.
@BB_HC_of_NEP

Those of us that tweet with him find him surprisingly open on Twitter.

Scroll to the end of this article to see section on where Gronk and Von Miller should be at the three-month stage of their recovery:

Monday Morning MD | National Football Post

"At this three-month mark, the recovery moves toward functional activities. Work on a therapist’s table and the weight room now shifts outside onto a field. More functional training and sport-specific training occurs.

Ideally, straight ahead jogging has improved to the point that it can become aerobic exercise. Gradual cutting exercises can be introduced."

He should be fine by opening day, at which time I'd like him hermetically sealed until Xmas.

As I said on TA, Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski visited Dr. James Andrews this week. He's right where he should be. Will start jogging soon.

That would be awesome, to see him able to start the season on time.

When he had the surgery in the 2nd week of January, I wasn't feeling too confident about his ability to stay off of PUP. This sounds much better at the moment.
