The Krafts own a Lacrosse team? Cool.

The Krafts Are the Worst Owners in Major League Soccer

Felger & Mazz decided to open their show talking about this today, any thoughts?

I hope they move the Rev out of Foxboro, makes the Pats field look ugly and it'd be a lot better for the Rev to play closer to Boston.

Being a Revs STH the article was 100% right. Just a question how does the soccer lines make the Pats field look ugly? You can barely see the soccer lines.

Good, that means they're not diverting any of their time or resources away from running the team I actually care about.

The Pat's field has soccer lines on it?

The article IS 100% correct.

Last year, Sports Illustrated conducted an anonymous poll of MLS players, and the Krafts were voted the worst owners in the league. And the guy who finished in 2nd place just sold his team, so there really isn't any doubt at this point.

To elaborate...

As a Revolution STH and a Pats fan, it makes you wonder... can the past 13 or 14 years be nearly solely credited to Belichick and Brady? And when they're not here any more, how far do the Pats fall, and how long do they stay there?

Can we get some info about why they were voted the worst?

Kraft was instrumental in ending the work stoppage in 2011. I think Kraft is a businessman and focuses his attention on the things that generate the most money so the NFL is a priority while the far less profitable MLS is not.

What's an "MLS"?

Add me to the list of those happy that the Krafts are so focused on their business in their NFL team that they have no bandwidth for MLS (Yawn)

I may be wrong, and it probably doesn't matter anyways, but isn't Jonathan the owner of the Revs?

My perception is that their ownership is in case soccer eventually does blossom in the states, rather than a competitive hobby for them. They had an opportunity to buy in as the league began, and said "why not?". It's cheap, with long-term potential.

The Revs have had some good talent over the years, and I always wondered why the hell they let them go? They'd rather just let a guy play out his contract than renew the contract AND take on the task of selling the guy in the transfer window.

That said, I don't care... Being an MLS STH is like being an NBDL STH. Why??

I'd love to use Phony Gasbaggarotti's face for a soccer ball...

gooooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaallllllll.....!!!!!

The article didn't really go into other than to say the Krafts have had that reputation for a while.

But I happen to know some former Revolution players and employees, and they say that while the Krafts are personable and nice, they use words like cheap, untrustworthy, incompetent, and disinterested to describe the Revs. And that's not comparing them to the Pats - it's comparing them to other teams in MLS.

The trend in MLS is to build soccer-specific stadiums and sign expensive players from Europe. There are 20 MLS teams right now, and 16 of them either play currently in a soccer stadium or are in the process of building one. The Revs are one of the four that don't. They're one of the only teams in the league without multiple "Designated Players" who don't count against the league's salary cap, and they were reportedly one of the only owners who voted against allowing teams to sign expensive players. Until the past few years, players complained about having to drive 20 minutes in their own cars to a practice field covered with rocks and broken glass.

In short, this is a title the Krafts have earned. Whether or not any of this transfers to their ownership of the Patriots may or may not be another matter.

So C level soccer players are upset because they are not being treated like A Level soccer players?

Sounds to me like these soccer players are acting like soccer players(divas)

Hey that's what i say about MLB? It's that insignificant to me.

As far as the topic i dont follow MLS but am aware of it being that i follow soccer in general and Euro soccer specifically. Krafts dont invest when it comes to the revs and the revolution have fallen behind given that they dont have their own soccer specific stadium and the owners not interested in spending much money to get the best players and make team competitive. Revs do have a following but those fans want nothing to do with the Krafts and want them to sell the team so an owner that cares takes over. You got expansion teams with better soccer specific facilities than the revs.

With all of that said I really have no dog in this fight.

Not exactly. The C level soccer players are upset because they're not being treated as well or paid as much as the other C level soccer players they're playing against.

No one who signs an MLS contract expects to be treated like they play for Manchester United. (...although there are places in MLS that come close.)
