COLTS STIFFING SCOUTS

There's an uproar in league circles regarding the playoff share that the Indianapolis Colts supposedly have given to their scouts.

Per a league source, scouts of a team typically are paid an extra amount equivalent to 25-30 percent of the playoff share paid to each team.

The source tells us that, of the $129,500 playoff share paid to Colts players, the team's scouts got only $15,000.

That works out to roughly 11.5 percent.

"Everybody is pissed off about it," said the source.

Though there's no obligation for the Colts to make any extra payment to their scouts, it's strange (to say the least) that the franchise would make such a dramatic departure from league precedent. Especially since the Colts' scouts have had a lot to do with the success of the franchise. Indeed, scouts generally are regarded as the "foot soldiers"

So do the right thing, Napolian -- cut your scouts a bigger check.

I bet the QB is getting the extra :D

and yet people say we are cheap. Look at how cheap they are.

coming from Polian, is anyone really surprised when this stuff surfaces?

Another classy move by Polian...
Wouldn't be surprised if this bit them in the *ss eventually.
Scouts are the guys you depend on to build that draft board.
It's not good to have them p*ssed off at this time of year.

Maybe these scouts will take a page from the Bengal's scouting handbook as payback. Have fun dealing with the headache draft picks boys.

Compare this to how the Patriots treat everyone in their organization.. what goes around, comes around.

 This is funny. They've made some drastic (some would say) cuts to help their cap space, then in turn they stiff the guys who would be most helpful in filling these holes. Or maybe Polian's such a top notch team builder he no longer feels he needs scouts? I may be misinformed here but regardless-it's refreshing to see even a hint of a possible Ponygate on the horizon:p

Odd, considering their Scouts really are the backbone of their player development. They don't do much with free agency, and haven't due to $ constraints. The Colts are all about drafting well and developing those players. You would think they would acknowledge this element of their organization for the great work they have done to finally get them a Lombardi of their own.

Not really all that unusual.

It is very common in the business world for some managers to believe that all credit for something goes to them and them alone and doesn't need to be shared with their staff who put in the leg work. Not surprisingly, Polian appears to be that kind of manager.

That is why I have my doubts about this report. That and the fact it came from PFT.

This is the kind of crap that really pisses me off.

If this report is true, the media men who constantly criticize the Pats for being cheap or classless had better do a turn-around and do the same for the Colts. Bill Polian has a track record of being an S.O.B., and yet he gets a flyer. Not to mention his attempts to recoup all of Corey Simon's salary from last year because he was hurt. Talk about a classless organization, right, Mike Ditka.

Who cares?

True..... The colts can do no wrong. I mean, they are perfect. The 2006 colts are def the best team to ever play a down in the NFL. It is common knowledge to coltsters all over the globe that good ol Willy Polian farts 100 dollar bills, and Payton Manning can fly/teleport .

Couldn't have said it better myself

Well, the Pats haven't exactly been saints since SB 36. Since then, they've cut the number of Cheerleaders they had. They also did not hand out rings to everyone for SB38 and 39 the way they did with SB36. And I can remember there being some animosity about those moves.

I didn't say they were perfect. But this doesn't make a whole ot of sense. The only place that has mentioned this is PFT and they are 50% at best when it come to rumors.

And some thought cutting the Twig was bad.

Hey! Somebody has to pay for Polian's summer home furniture!
