According to Adam Caplan he was already here and is going to Pittsburgh in the coming days. If Amendola wasnt worried he should be now with all of these WR vets being brought in.

Whoa technical difficulties on my part. Can someone help me with embedding a tweet?

2 Mill already guaranteed this past week to Amendola...he is going nowhere this year.

I am sure Amendola could give two ****s what the pats are doing. If he was going to be gone he would have been gone before he got that 2 mill.

June 1st cut? Trade to Carolina? (lol joking with carolina bit)

Lance Moore come on down. I'd gladly take him on the Patriots roster. He's a baller who makes play after play when healthy.

Why would Amendola be worried? He gets $2m from Pats if he doesn't sign anywhere. And he gets cut he will sign with in a week to a new deal and get a new signing bonus.

Kind of surprised that a guy who was on pace for 72 catches before he missed 4 games is immediately looked to, instead of a ragtag group of pathetic rookies (2 of which cost us mid to nothing in terms of draft picks) who totally came up empty for the last 2 months, PLUS.

I think the answer is that everyone is fighting for a roster spot
, and that's the way it should be. Improving on positions 1-5 or 1-6 for cheap, reasonable money should be viewed as a good thing as Brady heads into his last 3-4 yrs here. Guys like Lance Moore, Jason Avant, Steve Smith, Brandon LaFall, etc are all being looked at, so that we can add one more player for competition. Why have to depend on a JAG like Kenbrell Thompkins for the 2014 season again? What sense does that even make?

Somehow it becomes a pissing match where a guy who averaged 4.5 catches a game is now on the bubble--all over again. Amendola shouldn't necessarily be feeling overly comfortable, but outside of Julian Edelman and Aaron Dobson, who else is a bigger lock all things considered?

I think the guys who should be worried are sitting at spots 4-6, not 1-3. That said, I'm just glad that competition has been brought in at the position of WR. People were blowing my mind trying to claim that "we're in fine position" in terms of receiving options for the past month. Belichick obviously feels much differently and watching that pathetic performance from last season probably made him pretty annoyed. Once Gronk went down and our defense was already gone, it was just a matter of time.

With PIT losing Emmanuel Sanders and possibly Jerrico Cotchery, it only makes sense that they'd be looking to cover their butts a bit as well. We'll have to see if they are willing to overpay at all.

As you said, I'd be more than happy for a guy like Lance Moore to battle it out for a 4th or 5th depth option spot, who could start in a pinch if needed. That's exactly the way it should be.

Last season we brought in a bunch of nobodies like Michael Jenkins, Lavelle Hawkins, and Donald Jones for competition at a position that included the likes of Kenbrell Thompkins, Josh Boyce, and Aaron Dobson--if that says anything at all about how little the position was addressed.

It's good to see these kinds of guys being targeted for depth/competition.

No reason whatsoever for Amendola to be worried. Thompkins, Boyce on the other hand should be.

I'd love Moore here. Guy can play and he's fast. I'd rather him than Britt.

With the amount of hate for Amendola on this board, you'd think we were talking about Donald Hayes.

Edelman/Amendola/Dobson/LaFell are almost locks. The rest is competition for the #5 job.

100% agreed on Amendola.

But here's another thing. Maybe the Pats have some serious doubt's about Dobson foot injury, and how much he can contribute this year?

I don't think they want to risk that chance with a guy starting the season less then 100%, or a repeat of last year, and being forced to start a guy that's not ready.

Or serious doubts about Amendola.

Will he even make it past camp? And, just because he got paid does not mean that he wont be cut.

Costs more to cut than keep Amendola. Amendola and Edelman can play in the same team together. They did last year, and we did it for years with Edelman and Welker.

These dola comments are going to be funny at the end of the season.

An Amendola who cant play because he is injured again using up a roster spot cost more. Brady never threw 1 pass his way in the AFCC loss.

Hope for the best and prepare for the worst.

I think he would fit in well here...speedy outside WR pretty interesting that the Pats are bringing in so many WR's it almost feels like someone is the odd man out.

Lance Moore got over 1000 yards receiving two years ago. He clearly has skills even though he is 5'9. I would dump amendola and bring in Moore.

This was probably before Edelman re-signed.

As for Amendola, it doesn't cost more to cut him than keep him if we made him a June 1 cut. Total, yes, but it would save money this year by splitting it. Also Volin said there's offset language in his contract so if he were released and signed by someone else the first $2M he signed for would come off our cap; I don't know if that's true but it's what Volin said.

Betting on Amendola to be durable this season is a gamble that I would not take.

He was a mistake. Better to admit that now and move on then risk another season where he will be hurt or not even there down the stretch.
