At this point, the Patriots seem to be set up to be significantly better next year than they were this year (which in IMO, we overachieved). Our newly revamped secondary with upgrades at the #1 and the #2 CB position, the re-signing of Edelman, hopeful maturity of our young WRs should set us to be in a better place.

What one upgrade could we make at this point that would put us in position to be Super Bowl champs?

Trading for JJ Watt.

Have a great draft.

I voted Deep Threat WR and yes, I understand that when Gronk was on the field we were the #2 scoring offense. I think that adding James Jones would establish us as the favorites in the AFC and give us the best chance at a Super Bowl.

QB : Brady
RB : Ridley, Blount, Vereen
WR : Dobson, Jones, Edelman, Amendola
TE : Gronk, Rookie, Hooman

That is a more than formidable offense to go with our much improved defense.

Given the sheer number and severity of our 2013 injuries which didn't prevent us from reaching the AFCCG, we may have already made them.

On another note, while this doesn't have anything to do with Free agency moves, how would people feel about Belichick using Gronk much more sparingly this season to protect his health for the post season? Crucual 3rd down and red zone plays sound good to me instead of leaving him out there for 90% of a game.

With a healthy Gronk we may have won 2 out of the last 3 Superbowls.

Is Jones a deep threat? I know he is a good red zone threat but I didn't think he was much in the straight line speed department.

He is listed at 6'1, is built well and has good speed. For us, he is a deep threat. We need some size and physicality on the outside.

Did LaFell sign anywhere yet? I think he has a lot of upside.

Let's try and keep this realistic.
Qualifiers after the fact do not compute. ;)

Shenanigans aside, signing Alex Mack should do it or adding an impact veteran on the Defensive Line. Keeping Brady upright or disrupting the other QB is what's needed.

I agree. A healthy Gronk in 2012, catches that Hail Mary 9 times out of 10. I think with a healthy Gronk we could have beaten the Donks, but not the Hawks this year.

I have been all for protecting the MVP of the offense after Brady. No for PATs or stupid roles. Only use him when we have got to have it and bit to pad his stats because he would like that. :D

This. If we can get a dominant interior rusher, there's no way anyone can stop us. Manning or anyone else will not be able to step up into throws and with our secondary, it'll be raining picks.

I'm confident our current offense can score at least 20 points a game. Of course, nice to have another TE or Big WR.

It's one of the reasons why I'd like the Patriots at least try to sign Alex Mack. The Patriots are building a D to disrupt Manning however, it's the Seahawks who have the D that can disrupt every offense.

If the Patriots put an A Gap stud in front of Brady combined with Mankins, then I have every faith that teams will try to overload the Patriots at RG. RB steps up into that hole, lays some wood and Brady passes to a healthy Gronk... well that would be something to see against Chancellor, Thomas or Wagner. 6'6 260 with that mobility and catch radius is unGodly for a D.

I'd love to see a healthy Gronk matched up against the Seahawks second level.

Yup. None of the options listed include signing a stud in the middle to protect Brady. That would be the single most effective move to put us "over the top". A good rotational DE would be next on my list.

A good pass rushing DE like Allen/Philips/Wootton/Spencer.

How is interior OL not an option?

None

We made them in the secondary. Now we need to fill, which we are the best at.

We should get an upgrade at TE or DT in the draft, maybe both. The only huge one would be Hageman at DT IMO. Otherwise, it's TE adding to our all pro, interior OL which we don't need to break the bank to improve and FA/draft WR which seems to be a buyer's market both places.

Lots of role players in the rest of FA.

Why isn't center an option? Oh yeah -- they don't qualify for fantasy football.

What, no QB? (Just kidding):bricks:
