I mean freeing up Wilfork's cap hit allows space for a huge splash or couple of big splashes.

It doesn't necessarily have to be a splash on Graham because there is now wiggle room for a blockbuster trade to get an elite piece on D or big time playmaker on O.

What's everyone's gut feeling in terms of who's coming from here on out knowing we have some cash to spend?

Not this again

I was just thinking about that as probably the most entertaining thing that could happen, but I still really doubt it happens and I hope it doesn't.

Re: So does Jimmy Graham become a possibility with Big Vince gone?

Absolutely not, we would have to give him big money and lose 2 first round picks.

Lock this F@cking thread.

Why because we shouldn't entertain the thought of getting Tom some help? Or are you looking forward to an extensive role for Bolden to get us over the hump?

We have money, get weapons before it's too late for the best ever to get number 4.

Considering the nature of the routes at which Graham most excels, the Pats would need to address the issue of interior pressure on Brady for that signing to make any sense. Even then, that would be a huge amount of money spent on the TE position.

Did you read the post or just the headline? I was implying that it doesn't have to be Graham but could be another big time threat on offense that we could get for Tom as we have space for it.

Graham? Really? Ok not to make fun I would entertain the big splash idea. I would expect one more pretty good move but not huge and then fill a few more holes. then hopefully extend a guy like McCourty or two.

Or we could use that first rounder for a te? Rebuilt OL so brady won't get killed.

I'd say your crazy, but we just shelled out money for Revis.

Still I'm 99% sure this won't happen...Saints aren't gonna let both Sproles AND Graham go...Whodat nation would be out for blood.

but your headline indicates you think it should be Graham. Seriously, who else is available in the FA market that would qualify as a big time threat? There is a reason those guys don't make it to market.

How about give Alex Mack an offer sheet to go back to CLE with?

Jimmy Graham is not worth two first round picks on this planet or any other. He is a terrific player but as Belichick proved this past season, he is defendable. He is not Gronkowski, Johnson, or Peterson who cannot be stopped even with a game plan. Those are the type of players worth two first rounder.

Alex Mack is a great idea.

Revis is an once in a generation player. He can lock down on any team's best receiver and allow the Pats to blitz like crazy or double multiple other receivers because he can be left on an island. You saw the Jets with and without him. The Jets blitzed a ridiculous amount of time because they could without having unfavorable mismatches.

Graham is a great playmaker, but he doesn't have that type of impact on the offense.

Even with the impact Revis can provide, I doubt Belichick would have given him a top of the market deal (so the Bucs wouldn't match) and give up two first rounders. He certainly won't for Graham.

The Pats signed one of the probably half dozen players I would even consider giving up two first round picks just today. The only players actually worth giving up two first rounders would he an elite QB coming off his rookie deal. Otherwise, it is too much much to give up.

Aaron Rodgers
Calvin Johnson
JJ Watt
Adrian Peterson

Those are the only non Patriots that I would give up two first round picks for. Revis and Gronkowski would be worth it in my mind. Brady is almost 37 years old so it would be really mortgaging the future but I would give it long thought and could go either way.

Losing 2 first rounders would be enormous for our team over the next 2 years. I think a lot of people seem to forget that, not to mention the huge contracts that would come with these players.

I think I'd be down with all of the players on your list though--just due to the rare talent alone, with the exception of Peterson. I think he's obviously great, but I'm not sure that a RB is worth 2 first round picks these days, no matter how great he is. I think that kind of thing is normally reserved for a franchise QB, franchise DE, or franchise WR. Just my opinion though.

there are to many holes on this team right now to give up Draft picks and CAP space I think a lot of moves like brandon browner if he signed will be made

Has anyone ever signed a player who had been franchised?? I don't think it's ever happened.
