Very VERY interesting.

Adrian Peterson falling to 12.
Cleveland taking Joe Thomas at #3.
Cardinals taking Leon Hall at #5

Pats taking Revis at 24 and Staley at 28.

Ones that I don't think will happen:
Eagles take Jarrett at 26.
Chargers taking Ted Ginn at #30
Timmons to the Jets at 25

One word applies to Rang's Pats picks: Stooppidddd !

How are they stupid? Or haven't you bothered to actually do some looking at the Pats team depth in awhile?

1) Revis - Best CB left on the board. Could provide the top value at that point depending on how BB and Pioli have their board sorted.

2) Staley - Best OT left at that point. Of the 5 OTs on the roster, only 3 are under contract beyond this season. Light will be 29 in June. Kaczur will be 28 in July. O'Callaghan is 24, but had injury concerns coming out of college and suffered a concussion that he never really seemed to recover from last year. Britt (going on 26) and Bubin (26) are unknowns.

Also, take into consideration that the Patriots have had to use 4 OTs every year for the past 8 years. There hasn't been a season where they haven't had to use 4 OTs. That is highly unusual.

So, if the Pats feel that Staley is the best value for the team at that point, yes, I CAN see them taking Staley. Especially if they see him taking over for Light for the 2008 season with Light moving to the RT side.

Hall at five? Not even worth opening the link, Rob Rang is an idiot.

Guy has actually placed more guys on teams with his final mocks than Mel Kiper and you think Rang is the idiot.

Maybe you should read the explanation instead of dismissing it because of your own bias.

This is the problem with mocks. Either they're all almost the same or someone goes out of the box and they're an idiot.

Rob isn't an idiot. I don't happen to agree with that pick but I do like to see mock by people who have good NFL sources that aren't all the same.

I'm with DaBruinz on this one, CB is a very good possibility where we sit at #24 and while Kaczur and O'Callaghan are interesting, RT has been a revolving door; it would be nice to get that revolving door stopped.

If the Pats take Staley, I think its to groom him for the left side, not the right side, honestly. But they could have him start on the right side.

A LOT depends on Kaczur, Bubin and O'Callaghan and how the team feels they have progressed.

That's fine if they can move Light to the right side. He would certainly be great for pass protection over there although he seems to have trouble getting the kind of bulk that would be nice at RT.

Rang's mock is interesting, he admits Hall might be high but says pretty much unequivocally that he's going top ten.

Every mock is interesting, even if I don't agree with them. It's 3/15 and everyone of the "experts' mocks will change several times before 4/27.

The mocks that come out the day before the draft are the ones that are remembered. As this time, the situation is "fluid".

Rob Rang is one of the best in the business and highly respected by those in the know. Now on to his mock:

Revis is one of my top two players for #24. If he runs slower than Hall -- he may slide. I'm awaiting his Pro Day for that hopeful result.

Staley @ 28 is one of several 'wild card' picks at that slot. We could go the way of many positions there; Staley would represent more of a value pick, than one of glaring need.

I could easily see those two picks become reality. And would be particularly thrilled with Revis.

I rather like the picks of Revis and Staley, neither would surprise me at all. Revis is a solid value/need/fit trifecta, and Staley is a Pats-style OT with loads of upside. Give me those guys plus Bradley or DeOssie in the 3rd and a nice safety in the 4th and I'm pretty happy.

Revis would be an outstanding get for the Patriots, unless you think Gay is the long-term answer.

Kaczur and O'Callaghan both seem to have lingering health issues (shoulder and head) -- and their play when healthy isn't THAT great anyway -- and we're going to have a great-blocking TE on the field for many fewer snaps in the future than we have in the past -- so I'm going to back down from my claim that we don't need another OT.

However, I'm sticking by my guns that we don't need another INTERIOR OL, unless somebody is suggesting moving Mankins outside ...

And Staley sure sounds like he could be great. A near-ideal OT for a spread offense. :)

A fine mock. I'm not sure why Staley is picked over Ugoh.

I said its stupid because Staley won't be there. If you saw a mock that said the Patriots take Calvin Johnson at 24 and Joe Thomas at 28 , you'd say it was stupid. Too.

There are two LOT tackles in RD1 and maybe a ROT in Levi Brown. These kind of guys get snapped up quickly. As a matter of fact he might not get out of the top half dozen. If Thomas is gone, the Cards may take Staley; they let "Big" walk to Dallas, clearing the deck to draft a LOT. Miami needs one desperately too. Ditto for Houston. How many others?

I'm not saying the Pats wouldn't take a LOT early if one fell, but this isn't a year with bundles of them, and the few will be LLOOOONNNGGG gone.

A fine mock. I'm not sure why Staley is picked over Ugoh.

Because Ugoh is being projected as an OG. Because Ugoh has attitude concerns. Because Ugoh doesn't like to work out in the off-season.

HTF do you know that Staley won't be there? How about you go back and look at the last 5 years and tell me how many OTs were taken by #24. Better yet, I did it for you. In 2006, only 1 OT was taken in the entire 1st round. In 2005, there were 3 taken in the entire 1st round, though Mankins was taken at #32. The other two were both by #19. In 2004, there were 2 taken, both by # 16. In 2003, there were 3 taken, but the final 2 weren't taken until the 20's.

It all depends on where teams see Staley's VALUE. Most teams don't see Staley as a HIGH 1st round pick. So, No, I don't see the Cards taking Staley. Nor do I see Houston taking Staley. Nor do I see Miami. Not in the 1st round and certainly NOT in the top 10. That is just absurdity on your part.

Sorry, but you just don't know what you are talking about.
