I hear alot of folks on this forum say: the Patriots should have done things like this or they shouldn't have picked that player, or they should have paid that player more to stay on the team etc. Well here is your shot. Come on up to the stand and lets here your feedback.

I think Bill has done a great job coaching the team.

If YOU were the head coach of this team: how would you run this team?

1. Fix the DL in Free Agency (Bryant + Pass Rusher).

2. Fix the OL in FA and Draft.

3. Get a receiving TE 2 - double dip in the draft.

Oh, and re-sign Talib.

Maybe one more WR in FA.

01. Re-sign Talib, Edelman & Blount.
02. Restructure whoever needs to be restructured.
03. Sign Alex Mack & T.J. Ward if possible.
04. Release Adrian Wilson & Steve Gregory.
05. Investigate Red Bryant or other appropriate Defensive Linemen. Offer contract(s).
06. Investigate Sidney Rice and establish his contract price.
07. Investigate Scott Chandler and if his contract price is reasonable, offer one.
08. Draft explosive playmakers. Happy to shoot at hit or miss guys this draft on the off chance they become impact players. We have enough dependable guys.
09. Have Christiancat pray for the health of all Patriots starters in 2014 and a successful Super Bowl run.

Yikes...oh well, since we're praying.

How about Evan Dietrich-Smith or De la Puente? Mack will be huge money.

T.J. Ward, too.

There's a qualifier at the end of the sentence.

Where\when would you play Red Bryant if the Patriots sign him?

Bryant's quite a versatile player. Whilst his primary function is as a strong run defender, I have no issue lining him up at NT, DT or DE.

Sign Tebow immediately!

Edit: Oops, Richard Camembert beat me to it.

Part 1: Internal
1. Resign Talib, Edelman, Blount and Fletcher
2. Extend Gost and McCourty
3. Release Soap, Adrian Wilson
4. Restructure Mankins
5. Extend/Pay Cut/Release Wilfork and Kelly
6. Move Connolly to Center. Move Mark Harrison to the move TE position

Part 2: Free Agency
1. Sign Arthur Jones/Bryant (Jones is more versatile and scheme fit, but Bryant's size is hard to pass on. Would allow for Mayo, Hightower, and Collins to run free. I would pick whichever one would be the better value contract wise)
2. Sign Everson Griffen to solidify DE rotation with Buchannan.
3. Look into Sidney Rice/Jeremy Maclin. Guys who could be of value on a 1 year prove it deal. I think Maclin has a better chance of scoring a big contract with Brady than Nick Foles.

Part 3: Draft
Hard to tell how the draft will work out, but I would focus mostly on G, TE, LB and DB with the Dline being built in FA. I would love it if somehow BB was able to trade back and get 4 or 5 picks between the start of the second round and the middle of the 4th (4-5 picks between 33 and 120). Note: The players I am listing will all go in that range, so don't be confused if you don't see any names or top players at their respective position.

Guys I would be happy with:
- Interior OL: Su'a-Filo is my favorite. After that guys like Gabe Jackson Bryan Stork and Anthony Steen.

- TE: ASJ, Niklas, Logan Thomas, Trey Burton (was a big fan of Jordan Reed last year)

- LB: Christian Jones, Telvin Smith and Shazier (both would likely move to safety), Trent Murphy

- DB: Fuller, Purifoy, SJB, Antone Exum (CB not a huge need because we bring back Talib but would love Exum as a safety)

- WR: Allen Robinson, Abbredaris (Brady would love this kid, he is a great route runner), Jordan Matthews, Donte Montecrief, Campanaro

Part 4: Identity
I want this team to continue to be a power football team. Drafting a quality TE like ASJ or Nicklas would allow us to revert to a lot of two tight end sets and be more scheme versatile. I loved the running game we showed late in the season with a one two punch of Ridley and Blount. I hope that both improve on their consistency this offseason. Brady does his best work off of the play action pass. This will be scary especially if we upgrade the right interior of our line; they were the problem late in the season with Brady getting pressured up the middle and getting no push vs the Broncos in the run game. Our WRs will improve and I would love to see the size of our weapons with Dobson, Edelman (lol only short guy but the safety blanket), Gronk, and ASJ/Niklas on the field.

On defense, we would improve the speed and aggressiveness of our defense. Spikes brought the swag and intimidation to our D, but he will be gone. To replace that we go lighter and faster at LB, but add a bigger hitter to our secondary with a SS (Smith, Exum, Shazier).

Without getting into too many specifics, I would continue the current business model that gives us an excellent chance of competing both now and for the future. In other words, no "going all in." There's no reason to change anything.

In terms of moves, I would like to see DL, TE, and S targeted in the draft, possibly even in that order.

I would try hard to retain at least two or more of the following free agents: Edelman, Talib, Fletcher, Blount, Spikes.

I would also like to see an additional middle tiered free agent (maybe even two) brought in. Those could be arguably made at pretty much any positions aside from QB/RB.

The addition of 1-2 more key players on each side of the ball should enable us to make another deeper type of playoff run in my opinion.

1. Reconstruct Wilfork and Mankins contracts, and extend McCourty. Free up some cap room.

2. Sign Talib. Let Blount and Edelman (Unfortunately) test FA. Let them see what's their for them in the market.

3. In FA sign Donte Whitner and Charles Tillman. Get some more experience back their, and add a veteran pass rusher to replace, and hopefully be more effective than Andre Carter. I think the defense could benefit more with some veteran guys.

4. Sign either Scott Chandler or Garret Graham. Someone that can at least be some type of threat, but won't break the bank in FA.

5. Sign a veteran interior OL.

That leaves us with very little holes going into the draft. Which means we would be in a great spot to take BPA if they come within our reach in a very deep draft.

After watching the combine and reading up on some guys, I'm at the point where the only position I'd be upset at if they drafted I n the first round would be RB. The big name TE might be around when we draft in the second. And there might be a guy who was mocked in the mid-first that might fall into our laps ala Vince Wilfork 2004.

1. Fix the DL in Free Agency (Bryant + Pass Rusher).

2. Fix the OL in FA and Draft.

3. Get a receiving TE 2 - double dip in the draft.

4. Strong safety

Oh, and re-sign Talib.

Maybe one more WR in FA.

...........

invest heavily in both sides of the trench....everything else comes secondary to this.....even edelman, blount, and talib.

after that, it is to increase the physicality of the secondary.....these guys don't need to be analysts, but putting a little fear into the minds of the opposing WR's could be handy.

I'm OK with skipping on edelman and going into OTA's with boyce, dobson, thompkins and amendola.....also get a good look at harrison...I think we have talented players here, and a full offseason will have boyce take a huge step towards being more than any other slot guy has ever been here........bigger, stronger, and faster than welker, or edelman.....dobson and thompkins will both improve as their understanding of the pro game increases......I could see a mid level FA being added maybe in june or so

I'm ok with ryan and dennard as starting corners if it means saving a ton of money....I would like to dig an SS of decent physical proportions

4. Sign either Scott Chandler or Garret Graham. Someone that can at least be some type of threat, but won't break the bank in FA. .

I'd do both. Neither guy should cost that much on the cap and I think they can become our "poor man's" Gronk/Ahern (circa 2012). When Gronk returns we have a TE Depth of Gronk, Chandler, Graham. Not to bad.

DE to give Jones and Ninkovich a breather
DT pass rusher
C to get rid of Wendell
TE for WHEN, not if, Gronk gets hurt
S to get rid of Gregory
Resign key players like Talib

Go from there. Obviously in my dream world they would get two TE's, another outside receiver, and sign some free agents, but start there. They clearly need help on the lines and at TE.

Cap:
1. Restructure/cut Wilfork.

2. Restructure Mankins.

3. Extend McCourty, Gost, and Connolly.

4. Cut A. Wilson, Gregory, Sopoaga, and Bequette.

FA:
1. Re-sign Talib, Svitek, Aiken, and Blount (if possible, depends on what Blount wants).

2. Sign Red Bryant.

3. Sign Hakeem Nicks/Sanders/Cotchery.

4. Sign Michael Johnson.

Draft:
1. Trade Mallett to Houston for #33 (unlikely as it may be, but this is just for the sake of this thread).

Round 1 (29) - Kony Ealy (DE/Mizzou)
Round 2 (33) - ASJ (TE/Washington)
Round 2 (62) - Dominique Easley (3 tech/UF)
Round 3 (93) - Marcus Martin (C/USC)
Round 4 - Antone Exum (CB, SS/Va Tech)
Round 6a - Brent Urban (DE/Virginia)
Round 6b - Max Bullough (LB/Michigan State)
Round 6c - Aaron Colvin (CB/Oklahoma)
Round 7 - Kevin Norwood (WR/Alabama)

The draft is subject to change, of course, depending on where the chips fall after the Combine. Hard to get a good read there as of right now. If Talib is asking for too much, Grimes and Shields would be nice options as well.

Trade up to draft Aaron Donald. We've won the SB each year that we drafted a DT in the 1st round (2001, 2003 and 2004), and Donald will have a Seymour kind of impact on the defense.
