Late round small school DB's

I would love for the Pats to pick up some DB help in the draft, but if they go S early i cant see them picking CB until later. I could see them developing a player from the later rounds

My pick is Usama Young from Kent State ( which i believe is Dean Pease's old stomping grounds). Young is known as a smart player and it turns out he has the measurables too.

Usama Young CB Young (5-11, 196) ran the 40 in 4.39 and 4.40 seconds. He also notched a 43-inch vertical, a 10-foot-11 broad, a 4.31 short shuttle, a 6.65 three-cone drill and 15 bench presses.

what that shows me is that he has quickness AND deep speed.
I'm also keeping my eyes on Calvin Bannister ( Hampton), i think he would be the perfect corner to cover the slot reciever.

Any other CBs that stick out?

Nice topic! Young does look intriguing, though Bannister is <gulp> shorter than Ellis Hobbs. Michael Coe from Alabama State has been mentioned a lot here as a mid-round prospect -- son of a coach, solid all-around skills, something of a safe pick with less upside.

For a wildcard with plenty of upside, how about Courtney Brown from Cal-Poly? He may be a middle-rounder too at this point -- a big guy (6'2" 200) who was very productive in college, with outstanding ball skills (started out as a receiver). He was generally written off based on speed and athleticism...then showed up at the San Jose State pro day and ran a couple of 40s in 4.35/4.32, with a 41.5' vertical.

Young could, indeed, be a steal late in the draft.

He could also be a steal of a UDFA. He is definitely someone to follow. And, being that he's from Kent State, I bet the Patriots know LOTS about him.

The corner back from Hampton, Bains, I think, is an awfully intriguing prospect, he's very raw and would only develop after a year or two. He looks like a boom or bust kind of guy. Very light at 175 lbs.

I knew about the ACL tear, and how good he was before the tear. I don't think he will go that high (4th-5th) considering the tear, and that he's still coming off injury.
