Looks like change is a-coming. Peter King is a pathetic excuse for a columnist, but (1) he has lots of inside sources and (2) he's in the NFL's pocket. So if he says something like this, I'm inclined to believe it:

Peter King said:
In the past 60 days, Goodell, I’m told, has met with more than 30 players, asking them how to make the locker room a more tolerant, more professional place. Players like Avant have told Goodell what he needs to hear. (Avant confirmed to me Sunday night that he asked Goodell to set standards for the players in the league, so publicly they’re not all painted with the Incognito brush.) Vice president of player engagement Troy Vincent and the czar of human resources for the NFL, Robert Gulliver, have also been involved in the meetings. They knew bad things were coming in the Ted Wells report, and the bad things came … worse than many people in the league thought. In the end, Richie Incognito and his perverse and persistent bullying and sister-raping jokes and goonishness gone mad will do a favor for the league. All the gone-too-far frat boys in locker rooms around the league can thank Incognito now, because when the NFL adopts a locker-room and meeting-room behavior policy, it’s going to be for adults. Will veterans be able to make rookies sing their college fight songs? Yes. Will vets be able to run kangaroo courts and fine peers $100 for especially stinky farts? Yes. Beyond that, vets won’t be allowed to humiliate young players the way it happened in Miami.

A shame! The corporatization of the NFL!

I say good. And good riddance to the bad-cop stuff—or whatever disgusting crap—Incognito and John Jerry and Mike Pouncey were advocating in the past couple of years.

And while they’re at it, the NFL is going to put in a seminar for players and coaches and staff on sexual-orientation training. Call it the Michael Sam Seminar. It’s coming, and it should. Homosexuality is not going away, and there’s no reason why any gay player in any NFL locker room should be subject to one-tenth of what Jonathan Martin had to endure over the past two years.

I'm sure this will turn into another *****show of a debate as the other thread did, but I say this is a good thing.

Just as how I felt in the other thread, and just as how I feel when it comes to player safety, it's not appropriate for these players to police themselves or decide what's best for themselves. They've proven incapable of doing so in many arenas, and it's not a real surprise. The Patriots have been very fortunate they have a coach who stresses professionalism and football-first, and generally have found players that do likewise while on Foxboro's grounds, even if they are troubled off the field.

I got a quick look at the memo thats going out heres a snippet

"stop being jerks, be more like the patriots."

Joker, as much as I despise Godell it's not accurate to compare him to Hitler. Quite frankly I think the comparison is kinda obscene, Hitler committed mass murder and genocide, this is nothing of the sort.

I don't think he was serious. His handle is "Joker," after all.

I've got a copy of the new conduct stardard and there's the following clause:

4.1.1.2 - For all the college players who are looking to become a NFL player through the next nfl draft, playing DE, probably being drafted between rounds 3 and 4, it's not allowed to "salute" inside the locker room.

I agree with Eyes. The name Hitler is thrown around so frequently and freely so as to lose all power and meaning. Find another figure who takes himself too seriously and has unbridled power. Hitler was a genocidal, maniacal scourge, hardly comparable to our commissioner of football.

As I noted in another thread, the report has given Goodell a hammer. Given his past history, the thought that he wouldn't use it should probably never have even entered into anyone's mind.

Should we now move on to such luminaries as Stalin, Mao and Pot?

so...I am responsible for that .jpg? and you are the arbiter of what is and what is not obscene? FYI there are hundreds of fascist and communist portrayals of Goodell all over the net, put out there by people who detest his ham handed, totalitarian administration of the NFL. To wit...

Sorry, you're not going to kill THIS messenger..and quite frankly, I find Goodell to be an obscenity of intergalactic proportions...if that's OK with you, and even if it's not OK with you

Gawd what pantywaists

Good.

Not everything Goodell does is wrong.

Aw gosh, I guess you're right. Hitler should be taken seriously at all costs.

Hey -- I did NOT take that photo! (Nor did I genetically engineer that cat to resemble Der Fuhrer.)

Hitler committed mass murder. Goodell fined the Patriots a first round draft pick.

I guess, to some, those are equal atrocities. Personally, I find that picture to be despicable and offensive.

Just say this is locker room style joking around, like you'd experience in high school football or beyond. It's impossible for anyone to be offended or upset by comments made in those settings.

As opposed to despicable and defense? Admittedly, both were despicable in the AFCCG.
