So Michael Sam Is Gay, Who Cares? Can He Rush The QB?

Why are they having sex in school? Why are you perpetuating the perception that gays are sexual deviants and can't control themselves?

I've asked you a simple, hypothetical question.

Why won't you answer it?

I would tell him to not pay any attention to those comments.

We might even choosing a 3rd perspective, that of society and its laws. Should we enforce laws against discrimination due to sexual orientation, or not? Should we deny those whose sexual orientation we dislike the ability to see their loved ones in the hospital and cover them on their insurance, and other such civil rights and activities. Should we restrict civil marriage to those who agree with our religion's definition of marriage?

We are all free to dislike gay folks and think that there are going to hell. We are ll free to say such in public. What we are not free to do in our secular society is to force our religious idea on others or onto our laws.

As I was taught long ago, we should defend a right to everyone to be bigoted. However, we cannot allow folks to act in a bigoted manner in violation of the law.

I think the primary difference here is that you and I are looking at this from the perspective of the gay person, and how they deserve to be treated, and others are looking at it from the perspective of their view on gay sex.
I have no interest in gay sex, but I have a lot of interest in people being treated fairly regardless of them having feelings that I don't.

By telling him not to pay attention to those comments, you are therefore telling him that you do not agree with the comment that what he did was "unnatural" aren't you?

If you have a fat son and he comes home and tells you other kids are calling him fat, are you gonna tell your son that he is fat? Or are you going to say something else to console your son? And if your consoling your son, does that necessarily mean that he's not fat?

Any reason the MODS haven't moved this thread to another sub-forum?

If my son were fat or gay, I would love him no matter what.

Not that it would be easy, but I would sure try.

How about you answer the question?

I think it might be because its a patsfans article, and if it gets banned to a subforum, that would be a first in the history of this forum.

Second, it's the offseason.

Third, if I'm not wrong, there is a thread ignore function that you can use.

It's an analogy. You tell your son, in those situations, what they need to hear.

So what does your gay son need to hear in regard to asking you if it is true that what he did was "unnatural"?

Any reason you can't ignore it if it bothers you this much?
Many here on this forum have been ignoring this thread for a long time now. Everytime you visit the forum, there this thread is sitting at the top .

This is like deja vu lol

Have you been on the happy sauce tonight?

LOL...Well said

I wish the ppl debating for 70+ pages would have taken this option.

Love the sanctimonious diatribes from telling other posters on a messageboard how to raise their hypothetical gay sons. Hilarious extent people will go to to feel morally superior.

Being gay does not preclude you from passing on your genes, you can find surrogates, etc. Science is grand.

As for the what do I want for my kids question, I have two and I hope they never have to go through the anxiety and trauma filled experience of discovering they are homosexual. But, if they do, I would support them fully and help shield them from bigots.

Just wanted to point out that in your earlier arguments you were firm on the stance that homosexual sex was "unnatural."

So in that regard, you would have to agree with the person who told your son that what he did was "unnatural" right?

Almost as hilarious as you assuming you know the motivation of why people are posting about a topic.

An illustration of the absurdity of the human condition. If someone is intolerant of something, we castigate him/her. But in doing so, we're being intolerant of them. So intolerance is not acceptable, but intolerance of intolerance is? If so, why?

What if people who dislike gays (or the gay lifestyle) have such an intense cognitive disagreement with the concept, that it makes them really truly uncomfortable? And the fact that everyone else translates that as bigotry only makes it worse for them, because it intensifies their cognitive dissonance? In such a scenario, is it fair to keep forcing such people to change their mindset, if they're not directly hurting anyone due to their beliefs?

Not taking a stand on the position of any poster in this thread. I'm just saying what's "right" is rarely ever that easily discernible, no matter how convinced you might be that you're right (so is the other fella, and that after all is the root of all conflict, isn't it?).

So why am I pointing this out? Because, A) I get a kick out of acknowledging how chaotic real life really is, and B) realization of that fact should lend oneself to be a little more humble concerning what you think is really truly right, damn whatever someone else may think.
