Okay, before FA starts and the rumors begin solidifying into realities, lets get some predictions on the record for the makeup of the 2014 Patriots. We can modify as the chips start falling, eh?

This thread isn't necessarily what you WANT to happen, but what you THINK will happen.

I'll go first:

1. The big premise I'm going with is that the Pats stand a lot more pat than people seem to think.

Their Free Agents:

They lose Talib to a long-term deal that's too rich for their tastes.

Same with Edelman. I hope he scores big in FA - I wish it could be here.

They keep Blount on a team-friendly deal. Maybe 3/5.

They keep Wendell on the cheap.

They keep Dane Fletcher.

They keep Hooman.

New FA acquisitions:

They get a vet DE to back-up CJ and Nink. This seems like a no-brainer, really, considering the snaps those two endured last year. Tuck, Smith, or Jared Allen are all possible, Demarcus Ware would be awesome, but it will probably be a lower-profile guy.

I'm going out on a limb and predicting Lamar Houston from Oakland - and he's going to get a ton of snaps. I'm hoping for him or Tuck - always liked JT.

To replace Talib, they go and get Brandon Browner - hehe, well, if he can get over his suspension - on a 2-year "bargain" deal. (Seriously, I have no idea who they will get to replace Talib...they won't pay top-corner money, and after Kraft's comments, I don't expect Talib back unless he can't find a market. REALLY hope I'm wrong!)

And one more on the D: DT Pat Sims from the Raiders, who have a lot of money but 17 free agents. Sims will be replacing Wilfork, who will have to retire (or take a year off, at least) because of his health concerns. I have never wanted to be more wrong about anything Patriots' related in my life, but...

The Pats also acquire Scott Chandler as a Gronk back-up. Mark Harrison makes the team and will see limited action at WR and Move TE. T.J. Moe makes the team.

WR, I know it's going to piss off a lot of people here, but I think the corps is Amendola, Dobson, Boyce, Moe, and Thompkins next year. If they bring in anyone, it will be Manny Sanders or Jericho Cotchery and they won't pay even Amendola money for Sanders and less still for Cotchery. If either are brought in, Thompkins might be gone unless Moe hasn't shown full recovery from his Achilles injury.

Dan Connolly stays, but is restructured. Same with Gost.
Ryan Mallet gets traded to Houston for a 3rd, maybe their 4th.
Logan Mankins won't restructure. Pats don't press him hard - until next year.

The Draft:
1: Amaro
2: Trade w/sixth rounder to move up ahead of the Giants
2b: Travis Swanson C
3: Linebacker
4a (Houston): QB
4b: OL

After that...who knows????????

Armond Armstead will be a contributor.
And my surprise prediction: Adrian Wilson stays with the Pats and contributes. They'll play a more aggressive style of D next year despite losing Talib.

Opening Day Roster 9with some room to round out 53 with rookies:

QB Brady/Rookie

RB Ridley/Blount/Vereen/Mcguffie

OL: Wendell/Connolly/Mankins/Solder/Vollmer/Cannon/Swanson/Kline/Cave

TE: Gronk/Amaro/Chandler/Hooman

WR: Sanders/Amendola/Dobson/Boyce/Harrison

DL: Kelly/Sims/Jones/Nink/Houston/Armstead/Siliga

LB: Mayo/Hightower/Collins/Fletcher/Rookie

CB: Dennard/Browner(Talib Replacement)/Ryan/Arrington

S: McCourty/Gregory/A. Wilson/Harmon/T. Wilson

K: Gost
P: Allen
ST: Aiken/Slater

Whew...

Interesting, but I don't view TJ Moe as an NFL receiver. Not even practice squad.

Talibs price dropped after game 6 and IMO dropped lower in the AFCCG. I would like to make predictions, but honestly I have no clue where bb will go in FA and draft right now. We know needs but I don't know how they will be addressed.

I thought the same, but they paid Moe more than they had to to keep other teams off him, so they must have seen something.

Prediction: the Patriots don't sign huge money free agent deals the first day of FA. Boston media/Pats fans.com freaks out. Much arguing ensues.

The Patriots will go 13-3 in the regular season, beat Denver for the AFCC then win the SB against Seattle 23-20. The following day, more than several regular posters here will complain that we've never win a SB by more than 3 points. And I'm not trying to be sarcastic.

While I don't disagree, what's that got to do with this thread?

The thread is entitled "Your 2014 Pats predictions." I predicted their record, the playoff results and SB victory. How are those not predictions?

My prediction, even two months before the draft, is that NE will win 12-13 games, win the AFC East, make it to the AFCCG. Brady will have another pro bowl season. The offense will be elite. The defense will be improved. Some people will complain about McDaniels' play calling and Belichick's drafting. They will have some breakout stars (Logan Ryan and Aaron Dobson?) but some disappointments. They will suffer an inordinate amount of injuries.

In either the AFCCG or Super Bowl, they will lose a game where the defense won't be able to get off the field and the offense will score well below their season average.

It will be a wildly entertaining and successful season but because they don't win it all, people will say that Belichick is overrated, Brady's playoff record is suspect, and the whole "They haven't won since spygate" meme will resurface.

We're going into broken record territory, lol. Well played.

Heh. Well, it's a pretty easy prediction to make, right? I mean, it's been the Patriots' story for how many years now? A few details change, but this has been the way it is for many seasons in a row. I feel pretty safe saying that next year will likely end up in similar fashion.

The Pats will make a move in the draft and/or free agency that will prompt a certain segment of the fan base to complain that the Pats are blowing one of the few years we have left with Brady and they are idiots for not trying to give Brady weapons to win now.

Like clockwork???

It's kind of sad, but that has been pretty much the story. The only things you left out were the divisional round punching bag (who will it be next year, can the Bungles finally win a playoff game, or maybe more likely the Chiefs that the Patriots will annihilate), and then Gronk and Talib getting hurt, and everyone blaming the AFCCG/SB loss on Gronk and Talib getting hurt.

Of course, it is entirely possible that those two guys getting hurt IS the main reason they don't win it all. They are, after all, pretty key guys.

I don't want to keep Talib. But they will end up keeping him on a decent deal with incentives if he stays healthy. No other good choice Cb that will be on the market. Grimes will be tagged..the other guy i would want. DRC will stay with Denver. (guy i wanted last year as well as Grimes)

Keep Blount

They have to keep Edelman...just can't lose him.

I think they will make a deal to get a pretty big WR here...but who? I don't know. We know they were looking at Fitz last year...this year who knows. Again..if they want to win another ring...we need another good WR. Gronk we can't count out for a full year anymore

FA WRs really don't impress me. Boldin will stay with SF. Nicks sucks...Avant will stay in Philly or go to NY

My predictions:

- BB will trade the #1 pick back and then over-draft a defensive back, who will under-perform.

- BB will draft a DT who is a run stuffer and completely useless against the pass. In addition, we will have a defense which continues to allow low-end QBs to put up record numbers.

- Gronk will miss significant time due to injury...again.

- The O-line will continue to deteriorate. Solder will get concussed, Vollmer will suffer another injury, causing both to miss significant time, and the replacements will all be late-round JAGs, and Brady will take a ton of hits as a result.

- We'll lose Edelperson to free agency.

- There will be problems with Brady connecting to receivers, especially deep balls, that will cause people to speculate that he's over the hill and should spend an early pick to draft a replacement. After the season's over it'll be revealed that he's been playing through an injury all season.

- Keenan Allen will continue to emerge into a stud player.

So, what are my predictions for 2014, business as usual.

Patsfans collectively loses its mind when BB fails to sign a big name in the offseason.

The Defense was gelling in 2013, but setback by injuries,an incompetence on the Offense. In 2014 it will become one of the best defenses in the league,

The offense will be better with a years experience for the receivers and added depth and talent on the Offensive line..

The Pats will win the AFCE, advance to the AFCCG, and win it, and go to the Superbowl, where Brady will win #4, and make their 8th SB appearance tying the Cowboys and Steelers for most ever.

Then Tom F Brady will retire.:snob:

This is a NFL prediction...Manning will choke again in the playoffs...but that is nothing new
