Keep in mind that Goodell has the autonomy to hatch initiatives and present them to the owners. He's not simply an errand boy carrying out marching orders. Much of what we hear from him is his "vision" of what HE thinks the league needs. On that level he has earned the enmity of many diehard NFL fans, including myself. But there is no way in hell he's worth that kind of money -- that is obscene. It truly makes me sick. I don't care how much his bosses make, for Goodell to pocket $44 million annually is a crime against nature.

The owners are raking in money under the new CBA, and the concussion lawsuit was settled for not a lot of money. On the basis of those two facts alone, Goodell's probably worth every penny in their eyes.

Exactly. Some of RG's decisions/guidance may be BS and cause us anger, however, the NFL is currently seeing enormous prosperity. Just about every corporation in America pays absurd amounts of money to their CEO when he/she produces monetary results of this kind (whether it's right or wrong for that kind of money to be paid is a different argument).

The more important question is........ what happened to ScarJo???

On a serious note, as long as people are addicted to football, this trend will continue. They power is in the people but it won't stop until too late. People would rather go into credit hell than stop watching football.
