Tony Gonzalez : Open to Return For Contender

Didn't Ted Washington and Brian Waters not have a single snap in TC for us?

Two more words...Roman Phifer during the SB winning years.

We need our 6th pick to draft Brady's replacement but cap willing, I'd consider this trade for our 7th.

Phifer started in week one though, every single season. Gonzales is talking about joining a team in late November or December. That's not going to fly.

Eh. I doubt this happens, nor am I really all that certain I'd want it to anyway.

I know right? People think Gonzalez would actually fit in with this locker room and teams philosophy?

Let us do all the work and bust our asses off for 14 weeks and then you can jump aboard and get carried to a championship so you can massage your ego a little more.

You realize that the BB-led Patriots have done something like this with players before, right? It was Junior Seau, if memory serves.

I'll take the low round picks playing their collective asses off (Seattle) over the twilight of their careers, loser vets (Welker, Manning) all day.
Yay!!! We have the answers. Bequette, Beauharnais, Buchanan, Klein, Bolden, Thompkins, Fortson, Hooman thats all we need.
Surely they are better than having losers who only score more points than any team in history, get back to bakc 1 seeds, and get to the SB. What are we thinking, we should try to be like the Jags not those loser Broncos.

Belichick needs more clay, not more pots.
WTF does that mean?

I know the team is already very young, and a few vets will be great, but football is a game for the youth. Did anyone else notice Collins as the most energetic player on the team vs. Denver? Anyone else notice Talib standing on the sideline the whole game? I know that statement seems unfair, but it is what it is. It keeps happening.

You are kidding right?

He did nothing like what the poster is referring to with Jr Seau.

I'm all for adding the guy ...... whenever.

Should his addition greatly aid in this team hoisting another Lombardi I highly doubt any of his fellow players will regret the circumstances surrounding his addition.

Just wondering did you read it?

This was his quote

"Gonzalez also says that he’d be open to a possible return next season for the stretch run with a team that’s established itself as a championship contender."

So he wants to come back in December basically. Wants to skip the important parts.

So basically he'll be available for the part of the season when Gronk is injured.

Sounds good to me.

That was the original article which was then edited because they were wrong and Gonzalez never said that. The edited the article when it was shown to them they were wrong.

Also I wish people would read at least until Miguel's post and see he is not a Free Agent and has no choice where he could play next year.

I believe it's been reported that he would only come back to play for Atlanta if they are a contender late in the season. Not sure if this has been mentioned here yet.

You realize Junior Seau already had a history with the Patriots and BB before those mid-season signings his last two years, right?

The two situations aren't even remotely comparable Deus Irae.

Clearly comparable. The number of weeks is different from precisely what you wrote, but Gonzalez would have to be traded before 14 weeks had gone by, anyway, because of the timing of the deadline.

I have read the article in question twice. My takeaways are
1.) Gonzalez is done playing in the NFL
2.) If he is not done, he is only playing for the Falcons
3.) If he wants to come back and not play for the Falcons, the Falcons will not give him away cheaply.

Close Thread :D

Gonzalez is the best tight end of all time. He is 37, still productive and as far as I know has never suffered a major injury.

He should stay retired and quit while he is ahead while can walk without a limp.
