If you could bring back one former Patriot in their prime...

Man I need to see a documentary on these guys. Isn't Hannah considered to be the greatest guard of all time?

Really wish they made a documentary on the pre-90s Pats. I know there aren't many highlights so it probably won't be too long :rimshot:

Russ Francis - hands down. What a compliment to Gronk!

I am not old, but this thread has already made me feel so.

Remember when Dexter Manley said he was going to knock Joe Montana out of the game (Francis was playing for the 9'ers)?

Francis knocked Manley into the 90's! Boom!

John Hannah

Given the current makeup of the team?

1.) Moss, by a mile

2.) Seymour
3.) Law
4.) Coates

I might put Coates above Law, depending on what I heard from McDaniels about how he wants to focus the offense.

Mike Haynes ... him and Talib back there ... game over.

Randy Moss, and it's not even close.

1) Randy Moss... in his PRIME? Jesus.
2) Andre Tippett
3) Ty Law

Neither will that long pass Brady will throw to him ... not even close.

For a Moss in his prime we would need a Brady in his prime.

IMO of course.

Brady's long ball was never all that good IMO. It just doesn't really matter when you have Moss- if you can chuck the ball far enough, he'll go and get it.

I really like this list. For me, I would probably put Law above Seymour as I think another year in and we'll get enough pressure from the Jones crew. As a matter of fact, I think Seymour is my #4 so...

1. Moss (agree with the mile)
2. Law
3. Coates
4. Seymour

But that's a solid 4 and it doesn't bother me they're all contemporary choices.

It's between Hannah and Moss, two of the very greatest at their positions. When Hannah retired, the Patriots rushing yards per carry dropped by more than a yard. If he came back in his prime, Brady wouldn't need to pass. Blount, Vereen, and Ridley would be gaining 7 or 8 yards per carry.

If we magically grabbed John Hannah circa 1981 and brought him here, he would be pushed around like a little boy.

John Hannah never faced a 300 pound defensive lineman (except maybe "The Fridge"). But today, he would hardly ever face one under 300 pounds. The average modern day d-lineman is about 50 pounds bigger than the one from that era, and twice as strong and twice as fast.

He'd look like a runt out there, not the dominating force he was 30+ years ago.

Gotta go with Haynes, Ty Law, Rodney Harrison or Tippett...

Harrison, Moss or Tippet.

Remember we won a SB with a young Samuel and Randell Gay starting. Rodney controlled the secondary.

Mike Haynes for the defense or Stanley Morgan for the offense.
