Does the Superbowl beyond validate how good Gronk actually is?

When there is no healthy Gronk the contender for top TE by default is Jimmy Graham, Vernon Davis, (and now) Julius Thomas, Jason Witten, Jordan Cameron.

The first 3 i mentioned were COMPLETELY shut down by the Seahawks and BB put one man on Graham and that was Aqib Talib and there was an APB on Jimmy's whereabouts he was that anonymous.

One thing that you can guarantee, with Tom throwing him the ball and regardless of how many guys you get to cover him or how many defensive players you get to take cheap shots at him: Gronk CANNOT be shut down.

Just look at the Pats passing game when he came back this season. I mean for one solitary human being to make THAT much difference where we went from having minimal effectiveness with rookie wideouts and 2 sub 6'0 guys to suddenly looking like an unstoppable juggernaut all because of Gronk, speaks volumes.

He is the only reason i can't 100% say 'Oh Tom has no weapons' because with Gronk on the field he has THE elite weapon in the NFL and yes i am including Megatron when i say that.

Without Gronk, yes Tom has no one to REALLY rely on no matter how good Edelman was so for me this is just testament to how great Gronk is and the fact a guy like Julius Thomas who can dominate all year and then look scared in the SB when we know for a fact that scared is the last thing Gronk is, only further stamps his greatness.

In terms of effectiveness and unstoppability (if i can use that) i can only think of Randy Moss that i can put up there with him.

Patriots @ Seahawks 2012:

Gronk: 6 receptions 61 yards
Brady: 36/58 395 yards 2 TDs 2 INTs

The most passing yards the Seahawks have given up in the last two years. It would of been nice to see the Gronk Pats take them on. Hopefully next year.

Gronk is amazing, he had the greatest season every by a TE in 2011. Lets just save him for the playoffs next year, like the Hawks did with Harvin

Nothing more needs to be said. It's hard for me to have another favourite player above Brady but Gronk is probably that guy.

I have been thinking about that Patriots/Seattle game for a long time, and why it was that the Patriots gave them the best game they have had in Seattle that the Hawks have faced, and a game the Hawksd were really really lucky to win. I have also been thinking about why the Patriots offense fared so much better against them than all the others have and the conclusion that I came to was the powerful two TE offense they had at the time, and if anything last nights game led me to the conclusion that the Patriots are going to have to go back to that to get past that team. The Hawks can stuff any run game in football, and as they demonstrated last night a team that depends heavily upon their WR's and an outside game is going to get their asses kicked by them, so to me the only answer that works against them is a 2 TE game that can play power football, can protect the QB when they keep them in, and can get rid of the ball quickly tto the 2 dominant TE's. I still think the Patriots as a team need to get better on both sides of the ball to be able to beat that team but imo it is going to be the addition of another top flight TE that is going to be the key to that, and I would definitely double dip the position in the draft, or go with a good free agent and a high pick to add to Gronk this offseason.

I'm still convinced Brady was concussed in that game. He did not finish the game well at all after that hit.

No one with an IQ above room temperature will dispute Gronk's greatness which makes the injury problems all the more frustrating.

We outplayed Seattle and we should have won if it wasn't for a defensive failure. If we're fully healthy we match up a lot better than the broncos.

As a footballer, Gronk is only matched by Calvin Johnson and Adrian Peterson at the skill positions. Frankly, the guy is a nightmare and creates mismatches with his reputation.

I sincerely hope he retains good health moving forward because I miss watching him play. Talents such as Gronk are generational talents. I do not want injury taking that away from NFL fans.

I'd bet 32/32 GMs would take Gronk over ADP. Megatron probably is picked 2/3 times.

But yes it's quite clear he is the straw that stirs the drink in the NE offense. I really hope he is able to put together a string of healthy seasons as Brady winds down his career in the next 3-4 years.

How does that work? 32/32 is 100% - where does the 2/3 come from?

I'm saying 32/32 GMs would take Gronk over ADP. I think two-thirds of GMs would take Megatron with 1/3 taking Gronk. Sorry for switching it up there, I didn't want to estimate what two-thirds of 32 is. ;)

I have said it in numerous threads but firmly believe that with a healthy gronk, we win in 2011, 2012 and this year.
