Is anyone else wondering why every one and thier grandmother is anouncing Stallworth & Washington signed, and with a break down of the contracts for both. This does not ring like the Pats FO in the past, what I mean is they will anounce a signing but not disclose the specifics of the contract unless it is common knowledge....so why haven't they made it public knowledge? what's the hold on?

PD.

Maybe, they're waiting until BB and Scott Pioli return from their

scouting trip in Florida? They may want a press conference with all

parties present.

BB is waiting for Myra to OK the morality clauses in each contract.

Complex contracts and long league review of the details?

Overburdened league office reviewing the first flood of FA contracts?

Well, for what its worth, they're selling Stallworth jerseys at the pro shop.

Which brings up an interesting question: What number will he wear? He wore #18 with Philadelphia, and that's taken by Sauerbrun, and the #83 he wore with New Orleans is taken by Welker.

Let's hope he doesn't flip #18 around and wear #81. The names Tony Simmons, Donald Hayes, and Bethel Johnson don't exactly inspire confidence.

Maybe he'll wear 14 since he wore 4 in college.

Signings official

The Patriots made the signings of wide receivers Donte' Stallworth and Kelley Washington official today. The two players had agreed to terms on Sunday and Monday, respectively, but the team had not announced the contracts because they had yet to be signed.

"When Donté and Kelley were drafted, we were very interested in them as receivers who could help our offense and that feeling still exists," Patriots coach Bill Belichick said in a press release.

Washington is scheduled to hold a 4:30 p.m. conference call with New England reporters today. We'll plan on passing along some details from the call shortly after it concludes.
