Lately we have seen a massive influx of new members thread bombing the board with a lot of repetitive or prevocative and contrarian threads. My only guess as to why is that Borges is bored, stuck at home, and looking for payback for getting his butt suspended. Its gotta be!

Seriously, the rash of free agent signings has triggered a lot of attention around here. Its natural to be excited and to be speculative. Its human nature.

But when one steps back and looks at things, the Pats haven't done anything they haven't done in the past. Look at some of the big name signings we have done before under BB. Rodney and Colvin, Vrabel, Dillon. We have done this before. Its nothing new. This team spends to the cap. And before you bring up last year, read my post about what really happened with Meon. And we were persuing other wideouts last year and the year before, but for a variety of non financial reasons, they chose to go elsewhere. Its all been talked about here ad nauseum.

This year we brought in one long term WR, a RB, a TE, a huge pickup at LB and.....two WR's with one year deals, plus options, who are trying to rebuild their careers. Stallworth has a one million dollar signing bonus. Washington gets 300k. These guys dont make the roster, that is all it costs the team. Should one or both make the team we pay them short dollars for the year, and see how it goes. This doesn't mean the team is going to change its offensive philosophy, regardless of what you hear on around the horn. It just means that there will be a lot of competition at camp this year for the six available roster spots at WR. Thats it. So those of you still dreaming about a Colts stlyle offense, it is probably not going to happen. In fact, it is relevent to note that the Colts won in the playoffs this year by going away from their offense and adopting a similar one to ours.....hmmmmm.

As far as signalling the end of BB's tenure here. This activity has no bearing on his situation with the team. Again, this is just the Pats being the Pats. Its like saying I'm having spaghetti for supper, so that must mean its going to rain.? Consensus is that BB has 3-5 more years here, then he leaves coaching, to take an executive position here or elsewhere. But it is unlikely that he would leave here now, after building this team to where it is, just to start over somewhere else, with different, perhaps less supportive ownership, for a few years, then hang em up. Sounds kinda illogical, dont you think?

So everyone, step back from the keyboard for a moment and really think about what you are going to post. You can always use the quote button to directly respond to another poster. You dont always have to get that next post in before someone beats you to it. Its the off-season, things are going to get pretty slow around here soon until the draft, so take this time to look around. Send some Love to PATSNUT in the lounge, via some great pics. Head over to the pub for great off topic conversation, that place has been slow of late and could use an influx of fun topics!

And Ronnie!!! Nice try, pal!!!:D

A voice of reason...

Don't kid yourself. Bogus is on some island somewhere relaxing and enjoying his 2 month vacation. I'd love to think he was sitting at his keyboard, sweating and wringing his hands but I doubt it.

Nahhh, he's stuck at home. He's a new daddy, after all. And since he's not working, he's gotta be helping with the feedings and changings, too! :D

Great post shirt!!! :agree:

Good post, points. My guess is that with the last 2 seasons being dry from SB wins, good players not being re-signed, and no major FA signings, the Pats were being dubbed as arrogant and cheap by the football media's talking heads with an "I told you so" attitude. I heard Sterling Sharpe and others say this more than once last season with the implication that it had finally caught up with the Pats. Over time, I'm afraid some of the fans start believing this. And it became a concern among many particularly due to the "immediate gratification" culture in which we live. Funny, the team almost won the AFC Championship, but success for the Pats gets measured on a different scale than most.

Now, with several well-publicized signings of good FAs, the floodgates have let loose. People are surprised, but many don't realize that the Pats have signed many FAs in the past during BB's tenure. I also feel that recently (in the past 3-4 years) many have jumped on the bandwagon (and I'm not being critical here) of a good team and don't have that historical perspective. Therefore, the media and fans are giddy regarding the acquisitions the team has made in the last 2 weeks.

Bottom line, they've still got to show up when the games start. And we know that wins are achieved on the field, not on the roster submission. Pull up a chair folks, there's a ways to go . . .

Great post.

I predict that it will scroll off the front page in less than 40 minutes under a deluge of inane vanity threads.

Thanks, all. Just tired of it. I understand the excitement. But some of the newer posters here are getting a bit out of hand. They don't get this site. You dont need the big post or the big thread here. This board is about the best information about the Pats available anywhere. I just wish they understood that. This board does not need the hyperbole. Take that stuff to KFFL or PFT.

LOL I forgot about Borges. Maybe he's got himself, his wife, his parents, and 55 distant cousins contributing too. It's going to be a loooong 2 months....:bricks:
