I feel this would be the only thing left to do in Free Agency

Some that are left

Warrick Holdman

Ike Reese

Junior Seau

Edg Hartwell

of these , Hartwell would be the most attractive, if we could get him on our terms, and after he bombed in Atl with INJ, we could get him on a 2 yr incentive ladden deal, then draft 2 ILB in the draft..

I believe Chris Draft is also still out there.

I think these guys and guys like them (Mitchell, Huff or Ruff, etc.) will be available for a while.

It looks like they will see what happens in the draft, and then sign a vet or make a trade. It is interesting with all the focus on WR, the FO is not as anxious about our LB depth as we are.

Don't forget the June 1st cuts. It's probable a few more players will be of interest at that time.

June 1st cuts have been getting scarcer and scarcer the last couple of years.

And now, with the new CBA which allows a team to spread the cap hit of a player released before free agency (e.g. Corey Dillon) to be spread over the next two cap years, I think the June 1st cap casualty may be nearly exctinct.

Good point.

Some more ILB FAs:

Chris Claiborne, Jamie Sharper, LaVar Arrington, Randall Godfrey, Liam Ezekiel, Freddie Roach, Kai Parham, Spencer Havner, Wali Rainer, Hannibal Navies, Isaiah Kacyvenski, Tony Gilbert, Scott Shanle, Raonall Smith, Jay Foreman, Brandon Short, Carlos Emmons...

To tell you the truth, given these names along with the prior names, I'd prefer to see Seau back.

I hesitate to say it, but IF he remains unsigned as camp approaches, I'd offer a small contract to Lavar Arrington. I think he could reinvent himself and save his career as an ILB in our 3-4. The injuries have taken it's toll, but he's still strong and athletic. He's only 28. I'd take him on as a project if there isn't a lot of interest - and if he was interested in us.

I believe Scott Shanle signed an extension with NO so he's not a FA.

I believe the achilles tear Lavar suffered has done to him what the achilles tear has done to Takeo Spikes, which is made them a shell of their former selves.

If little money was invloved then little risk would be involved. I just wouldn't expect much from him production wise.

Also, the Cowboys may match the offer for Ryan Fowler, and then may look to move Bradie James or Kevin Burnett. We could offer up a young lineman in return and BB could feel free to draft OL depth again. I think Ryan O'Callahan for Kevin Burnett would be an interesting trade.

Is he still with the Postons? That would be a big negative against him for BB.

Thanks for the update. Some websites are better at keeping track of lower-profile transactions than others.

I wouldn't mind bringing one or more in to camp to see how they do. BTW, weren't Havner and Parham highly regarded out of college? What happened to them?

Along with Roach, yes they were. Both were regarded as Day 1 picks and then had a Ernest Shazor-like fall from glory. Neither seemed to work out as an UDFA, but I think it would be worth bringing both in, just in case.

Actually, I heard the opposite...well from EEI...one on there had a source with teh Pats and they claimed the patriots were NOT interested..so?? We shall see...he MAY be a solid run stopper..but are there many like that?? I tend to think they are of the past..but they DO need someone young to bring in..(have someone besides Mays..who is a long shot ILB)...Roach was a miss..unfortunatley..and some of the other youngsters MAY be OK...Parham Havner?? One is with GB..so I douvbt he is available.
The older ones like a Godfrey and such are only stopgap measure.. Seau would be better for now. Arrington and Short are outside backers and moving inside is NOT the easiest...remember Chad Brown who was a great OLB..had the transition worked he may have been OK..but?? What about Gilbert, Foreman, navies or Kacyvenski??? Just curious if one may be oK?? I am sure the Pats have ideas of who and what BESIDES the draft.
