There are times to break the bank, and this is one of them. Sign Jimmy Graham this free agency if he doesn't get tagged. An electrifying playmaker in his prime opposite gronkowski would make the patriots offense instantly the most dangerous in the NFL. Jimmy Graham teamed up with Gronkowski would allow our offense to score over 20 points in championship playoff games, unlike the patriots last 3 playoff losses. Add in a big WR like Dobson, two good slot wrs (amendola, edelman), a speedster(boyce) and you have a complete offense.

That would be great.

But I'd rather beg Tony Gonzalez to give us one more year....and then sign Hakeem Nicks.

This would not be breaking the bank...

It'd be a bank obliteration into salary cap hell.

I imagine it would look a lot like Gronkowski and Hernandez without the weed, angle dust, guns and murders....:D

I would love to see it but I anticipate the Saints will franchise him.

I assume the OP plays a lot of fantasy football.

I'd rather break the bank on a stud Defensive End to pair with Chandler Jones.

Exactly. If I wanted to dream, I'd dream about a guy like Greg Hardy rather than Graham.

Greg Hardy would be delightful but I don't see Carolina letting him leave. The guy I have my heart set on is Michael Johnson of Cincinatti. I'm hopeful his down year makes his contract a little more affordable for the Patriots to seriously entertain the thought.

Damn salary cap.

There's this thing called the franchise tag. The Saints are in a cap crunch, but there's no way they don't figure out a way to fit even the WR tender under the cap. So unless you're advocating trading two first round picks for him and then giving him the $11M a year contract he wanted...

I believe Johnson was the guy we were rumored to plan on pursuing last year before he got tagged, wasn't he??

Yes. Ninko's extension probably rules out a big-money DE for now, though, especially one who is a better run defender than pass rusher.

Its good to dream but it won't happen. Graham is seeking WR designation so he can get more. He'll likely get tagged

I would think about signing Hardy, Graham or Revis and letting Talib walk and cutting Wilfork. Not sure if (savings from cutting Wilfork) + (savings from replacing Talib with cheaper option) = cost of FA but it would be close.

Saints said they will tag him

Possibly would be my first and only football orgasm in my lifetime.

Why wouldn't we just draft a TE in the 1st/2nd/3rd round for peanuts, and then sign a bigger outside threat for much cheaper?

On top of that, how in the hell would New Orleans possibly let him walk away to free agency LOL? They are going to tag him around 6m with the TE designation at the very least. Jimmy Graham isn't going anywhere.

Draft a TE and if the Pats are going to get another receiver for Brady in free agency, then go for an outside receiver. Hell, you can get guys like Hakim Nicks, Jeremy Maclin, Anquan Boldin, etc. for a fraction of what it will take to get Graham.

I am not against the Pats being somewhat aggressive to get a receiver for Brady, but it would take stupid money and two first round picks to pry Graham away from the Saints.

We had it a couple of years ago with Aaron and Gronk. This won't happen, Graham will get resigned

yes...lets put our team into salary cap hell...great idea :bricks:

He is staying with the saints

Or you could draft, say, Jace Amaro and Arthur Lynch and use the extra $5M a year on other positions. ;)
