Re: Staff Changes

Wonder if Pepper's leaving to be a defensive coordinator somewhere.

Re: Staff Changes

Interesting... scapegoat for lack of pressure? Or leaving on his terms after losing out to Patricia for the DC job?

Re: Staff Changes

Always wondered abut Pepper - all these years with BB and never rumored or mentioned for other jobs. Wonder if he was pushed out or wanted to go for another position somewhere….

Re: Staff Changes

Too bad. Pepper will be missed. But a shame it wasn't decided until after Mike Vrabel was hired by Houston.

Re: Staff Changes

Reiss was vague a couple days ago when he mentioned Bill O'Brien sniffing around Patriots assistants to go to Houston. It would not surprise me to see Romeo Crennel bringing on Pepper and giving him more responsibilities, with perhaps an eye for becoming defensive coordinator later on.

Crennel is 67 going into next season.

Why would it be on him? He was the LB coach. Patrick Graham is the DL coach.

Re: Staff Changes

I'm surprised he stuck around this long. Good luck to him in the future!

This sounds quite plausible to me. Get Crennel for a couple of years, then he retires and Pepper takes over. That's more likely than moving up here with Matt Patricia pretty well entrenched.

My bad, why did I think he was DL? Did he used to be the DL coach?

Re: Staff Changes

maybe going to houston.

Pepper was LB coach from 2001-2003, then DL coach from 2004-2011 before switching places with Graham and moving back to LB coach.

Thank you. Glad I wasn't completely crazy.

Not at all crazy. I had a hard time keeping track of whether he'd switched from LB to DE coach or vice-versa.

Mike Reiss is reporting that Pepper will not return. I wonder if he was fired, he quit, or just decided not to re-sign with the team.

Too bad. He was a rising star a few years ago and was a strong candidate for the DC job when Pees left.

This AFTER Vrabel already signed with Houston. Damn

I hope it wasn't disgust from watching the total lack of pressure on an immobile Manning as he bobbled the ball for 30 seconds before completing a long 3rd down pass for Another Broncos 1st Down!
