From PFT, so take it with a grain of salt:

And we're now hearing that receiver Randy Moss very much wanted to be traded from Oakland to New England. Per another league source, Moss "really wanted" to play for the Pats. The Patriots, we're told, simply were not interested -- presumably due to his history of on-field histrionics, which ranged from squirting an official with a water bottle to periodic nonchalance.

Thank God we didn't get him.

I never ever thought that Moss was a realistic possibilty for the Pats. He doesn't fit into the Pats' system. He is a one trick pony who in the past had an amazing one trick.

If this is true, it makes sense. The buzz surrounding the rumors of Moss to the Pats was put out there by the player or the Raiders who are looking for a quick injection of value to unload this waste of flesh.

The Pats may have benefitted from this buzz due to the influencing of the perceptions of the WR FAs and their agents thinking they had competition in signing with the Pats.

I'd rather keep the pick.

******* Moss. Good lesson for kids there. If you screw up often enough, it follows you around and may cost you something you really wanted someday.

Since Moss wanted to play for the Patriots....I can guess that he never took the time to talk to Tom Jackson at ESPN.

As a Randy Moss fan, this makes me very, very sad :(

Sorry Moss your past has come back to haunt not only you but all of Raider nation as well.

Ehem,i did prefer Moss :) :)

Randy Moss just simply does not fit into our system. It's not so much that he's an off the field problem as it is that he is an on the field distraction. Plus he has lost more than one step.

I think it could have been really interesting, him and Brady. What was the story about Corey Dillon and Belichick, that Bill traveled to talk to Corey to get a read on whether he was ready to forget the past and just play football? Guess they thought Moss was too far gone.

And we would know this based on his playing last year for an OC who last ran a Bed & Breakfast??? IF he had a decent quarterback throwing to him with an OC who knew how to scheme, he could still be the beast he was when he was in Minny. JMO.

I'm guessing the fact that he was due $20 million in the next 2 years had as much, if not more, to do with his movability than anything. Once we made such a big investment in Thomas, I couldn't see this happening, even if Moss were prepared to restructure.

That said, I think the Moss interest rumor came from more than just Moss. The timing was perfect -- I continue to believe the Patriots had a hand in it and it was in part designed to let Stallworth believe he had competition.

Yeah, I think Corey told BB how losing so much can wear you down, BB completely understood and knew Corey would be different in an organization committed to winning, and Corey sure held up his end of the bargain.
Well if not us I hope someone gives Randy Moss another chance (as long as it is not the Colts, Jets, Broncos, Dolphins, or Titans ;) )

If Moss gets cut and he still wants to play for the Pats (read doesn't want much money) then I'll bet anyone in here that Belichick would sign him in a microsecond ...... lost step and all.

It would also make the Pats a shoe-in to win the next Lombardi.

I disagree with this completely. The poster(s) writing that Moss didn't fit our system is/are correct. Nothing on off field issues, but Moss was not known for running precise routes. From this past year, we saw how that is something that will drive Brady to distraction.

Best wishes to Moss, hope its in the NFC.

You don't need to run precise routes with Moss. Were not talking Fred Biletnikoff here. All that needs to be done with Moss is have him run down the field and a) take a CB and possibly a safety with him and clear out passing lanes underneath opening up huge opportunities for the other receivers b) outjump the DB and catch the ball that Brady tosses up in the air.

I was responding to the poster stating that Moss has lost a step, not if he fits in our system :snob:

It would of been interesting and I probably would of cheered him. I would like to see him and Favre playing catch. It would be fun to watch imo.
